The whereabouts of a missing elderly resident of Albert Square is revealed. Arthur and Pauline have a secret that they won’t be able to keep for long. There is trouble in the Queen Victoria pub.

It's Den and Angie's wedding anniversary. Pauline and Arthur's secret is a secret no more. After Reg's death, the police starts investigating it as a murder.

The police conducts interviews about Reg's murder. Dan has to admit that he was with his mistress at the time of the murder. Ali and Lou are both lucky at games of chance.

Sue tries to get Tony to participate in a money making scheme. Mark is broke and tries to steal from Dr. Legg. After Lofty and Angie kiss in public, Dan is pissed and threatens Lofty.

Lou is made an offer she finds easy to refuse and there is a new arrival in the Square.

Detective Sergeant Rich questions Mark about a German badge that he sold to Lofty, which belonged to Reg Cox.

After Ali apologizes to Dan, Ali is allowed again to enter the 'Vic'.

Pete helps Den to get a night off from Angie, so that Den can use this excuse to see his mistress.

After Nick sells some stolen goods to Kevin, Det. Sgt. Rich finds out about it. Angie finds out that the story about the Bentley Den used to get the night off is not true.

Saeed's shop has been broken into, but he refuses to let the police handle it. Ali get's mugged and beaten up.

Citizens of the Square take matters into their own hands.

Nick disappears when the police uncover new evidence.

Ethel babysits for Mary with frightening results.

Mary is in a panic and everyone joins the search. Den cements plans for his holiday and competition between Michelle and Sharon for Kelvin's affections heats up. Pete is unhappy with Ian’s career plans.

Mary is unwell and people are starting to notice. Ange and Den are worried about the Vic's bottom line, but they can't agree on how to boost business. Ange eventually sends Den off to check out a strip act. Pauline leads Naima astray, Debbie upsets Mary and Ian finally snaps.

Nick is on the news. Lou has come around to the idea of a holiday and Den is determined to get away to Spain for a week. Naima and Saeed are getting along better. Dr Legg tries to help Mary get better accommodation, and finds out something that bothers him. Lou comforts Ian.

Ali gets a happy surprise. Dr Legg counsels Lofty to be a better neighbour and voices concerns about the future of Albert Square. Lou's talk with Pete and Kath doesn't go the way she expected. Sue is getting fed up with all the calls for Ali at the Cafe.

Lou is up to her old tricks, but Pete and Kath turn the tables. Lofty spends more time with Mary and Annie. Debbie and Andy start planning a campaign. Pauline and Arthur celebrate having time to themselves and Den offers Arthur a week's work while he is away.

The kids all head back to school, some less willing than others, but Mark is still nowhere to be found. Lofty's latest purchase causes a few giggles and Ethel's first go at cooking for the Vic doesn't quite go as planned. Den is away and Ange takes the flirting with one particular customer to a new level. Saeed impressess Naima.

Den gets caught out and Angie organises an evening out. Mary is getting desperate for money and Den tells Angie he has to spend another week in Spain. The identity of the prank caller to the cafe is revealed and Ali's latest trip to the races causes more problems for him & Sue.

Ali is told who's been calling the cafe - but he daren't tell Sue who it is. Lou and Michelle return. Mary gets some work and it's Angie's turn to get caught out. Ethel's pies cause a stir and the Fowler's call the police.

Angie decides to ban Ethel from cooking at the Vic and wants Ian to do it. Deb is in anxiety about what to serve Sayeed and Naima at the dinner she has invited them to. Lofty spends the night at Mary’s. Den is due back but Tony doesn’t want things to change. Ethel predicts that Mark will never come home. Sharon decides to confront Angie about her behaviour while Den has been away but Angie gives her some home truths about Den.

Lou is unwell but keeping Arthur on his toes. Den arrives back at the Vic, but doesn’t get the welcome he was expecting. Michelle gets a taste of her own medicine and a lie is revealed. Someone comes looking for Mary. New information gets the ‘Save Our Square’ committee mobilised again.

Kath celebrates her birthday. The stranger looking for Mary is still hanging around. Ian’s cooking is well appreciated. Michelle has started work. Lou starts doing her own research into what is wrong with her – much to the amusement of others. Sharon is upset about Den and Angie’s goings ons. Ian’s film night surprises everyone.

Den smells a rat. The identity of the stranger is revealed. Michelle is furious at Ian and Kelvin over the ‘Chaz’ incident, but Kelvin’s explanation placates her. Everyone finally takes Lou serious about being ill. Mary blames Lofty for being found. Den and Angie come clean with each other and Den reveals more than Angie wants to hear.

Lou has shingles. Mary apologises to a relieved Lofty. Tony comes to Debbie’s rescue in the kitchen. Angie and Den come to an agreement, for Sharon’s sake – but will they honour it? Dinner at Debbie and Andy’s opens new doors for Naima.

Naima has her first driving lesson with disastrous results. Tony is upset after a visit from Angie and Den and Angie promise Sharon things are going to change. Sharon’s nose is out of joint over Michelle and Kelvin seeing each other again but she refuses an invitation to dinner from Ian and seems to have other ideas. Lofty’s well meaning gesture is not welcomed by Mary. Den and Angie seem to have put the spark back into their marriage.

Lou wakes up screaming from a nightmare. Den is disappointed with himself. Dr Legg shares some deep concerns about Pauline with Arthur. Ian’s term as the Queen Vic’s latest chef looks to be coming to an end. Michelle gets a new look. Tony warns Michelle off Kelvin, at least until exams are over, meanwhile Sharon moves in for the kill.

Michelle and Kelvin plan a night out in the West End, but one aspect of their plan has Andy in a tizz. Lou is still laid up. Saeed and Naima’s pledge to discuss everything together hits a snag. Dr Legg throws cold water on Sharon’s latest plans and Arthur “pours oil on troubled waters” when he tries to talk to Michelle about Kelvin.

Sharon is in Michelle’s bad books. Nothing is going right for Andy and Kelvin may have pushed his luck too far with Tony. Ali goes to see Den about a car but Debbie makes a point that will throw a spanner in the works. Lou’s demands are getting everyone down and Pauline is still not getting the support she needs, leading to possibly tragic circumstances.

An ambulance takes Pauline to the hospital. Ali and Sue try to get money for the car Naima crashed not only from her, but also from Saeed, Den and Angie! Andy's stolen bike is found by the police.

Lou moves in with Pete and Kathy. A group of teenagers beat up Ian. Arthur doesn't like Michelle to go out with Kevin.

Lofty helps Ali and Sue fixing their car, but gets hurt in the process. Ali wins some money and uses it for gambling. Ian wants to learn some boxing after the beating he took the other day. Lou leaves for Beales.

Ali is bringing Sue flowers after he won some money without her knowing about his gambling. Sharon talks to her mother about going on the pill. Angie discusses this with Pauline and Dr. Legg. Ali and his brother Mehmet enter a high stakes poker game and Ali bets everything.

Ali wins the game! Mustapha, the fourth player besides Ali, Den and Mehmet, rushes Ali with a knife but is stopped by Den and Mehmet. Ali decides to buy a new car and some gifts for Sue.

When Sue and Ali wake up this morning they find baby Hassan dead in his bed! Dr. Legg can't do anything for Hassan anymore. Sue is in shock and Ali breaks down. The police questions the Osmans, Sue blames Ali and herself for the death.

After Hassan's death, Sue stays at Deb's. Ali arranges the funeral and tells Dr. Legg that Sue, as a woman, is not permitted in the mosque. Lofty, with the help of Ian and Michelle, opens up the cafe for the Osmans.

Saeed and Naima both make lists, what they are missing in their marriage. Sharon steals a bottle of Gin, and after emptying the whole bottle falls down the stairs. Ali and Sue finally start talking about Hassan's death.

Sue goes back home with Ali, and Pete and Kathy want Lou to do the same. Lofty continues running the cafe with some help from Michelle. Mary arrives back in Albert Square, but doesn’t stay in her own flat. Angie comes to a decision about the way she lives her life.

Sue and Ali cope as best they can. Pauline misses working. Andy keeps up with his training and Michelle gives Lofty his “new look”. Mary unwittingly does a favour for Saeed.

Andy and Debbie find a new way to advertise the “Save Our Square” campaign. Sue decides to go back to work and Lou settles in at Kath and Pete’s. There is more speculation about Lofty and Michelle and everyone but Ethel thinks Willy is on the nose. Ali prepares for the funeral and Angie, who is struggling to stick to her decision, gets a bit of a culture shock. Lofty gets another “new look” compliments of Michelle.

The funeral goes ahead with everyone but Sue paying their respects. Michelle is on a money drive. Den’s not sure he likes Angie’s new life choice and Arthur gets on his high horse with Michelle. Saeed takes advantage of having Naima to himself again.

Kathy’s fed up and so is Saeed, leading to a whole new “cockney experience” for Saeed. Sue is still in a daze. Ethel has an admirer and Arthur takes to the launderette like a fish to water. Michelle is running herself ragged and Pete lets the cat out of the bag – to his own benefit.

Saeed comes home and this time it is Naima’s turn to take off. Den is surprised to learn what Michelle wants the money for and although she is exhausted, Michelle is still looking for more work. Lou is unconvinced by Ethel’s latest reading and there are a couple of homecomings. Sue has still not talked about Hassan. Naima surprises Saeed.

Saeed follows Naima’s lead and makes a change to his look. Ali and Sue’s relationship is very strained. Michelle is plagued by the green-eyed monster and Saeed is touched by it as well. Ethel gets asked out on a date. Kelvin and Ian have a business idea. Saeed has ideas of a more amorous nature, and then so does Ali.

Michelle won’t let Arthur forget his broken promise. News about Nick Cotton worries Ethel, but Dot is in complete denial. Ian has a windfall, much to Michelle’s chagrin. Saeed and Naima are distracted by other matters, and don’t open the shop. Ethel suffers a disappointment but later prepares for her date. Sue is depressed and Ali’s frustration bubbles over.

Michelle is still feeling hard done by, but things start to look up. Saeed gets a taste of politics. Mary is not coping. Den gives some good advice to Michelle, that he doesn’t follow himself. Naima and Saeed’s happiness is interrupted. Sue is still on auto-pilot and Ali turns to Lou for help in desperation. Kelvin and Ian start work on their business and Arthur gets an idea that could keep him busy. Pauline has some very important news but can’t get anyone to listen.

Everyone is excited about the latest arrival at Walford. Sue keeps trying to pretend everything is OK. Naima tells Deb about the note. Only Dot is pleased about the latest news in the Gazette. Den is back to his old ways and an epidemic appears to be sweeping Walford. Ethel goes all out for her date. Dr Legg tries out an idea to try to get through to Sue.

Sue is doing a lot better, but Mary is having real trouble coping. There are celebrations when Pauline comes home. Angie is finding life on the wagon tough. Naima finally confronts Saeed about the note she has received and Angie catches Den out in a lie that may have far reaching consequences.

Lou is happily giving advice when it is not wanted and Michelle gets some disappointing news. Angie and Den are still at each other but Ali and Sue are going much better. The fund-raiser goes ahead at The Vic. Debbie upsets Mary, and Naima gives Saeed some devastating news.

Sharon tries to fill Angie’s shoes while she is away. Ethel tries her hand at match making, and Lou trusts someone she shouldn’t have. Mary tells Pauline some things she has been trying to hide.

Deb and Andy are still recovering from the shock of being victims. Mary has to face the music, but has support from Pauline and Arthur. Deb gets her exam results, and Dot announces the return of ‘the prodigal son’ – but she is the only one happy about it. Arthur has happy news that doesn’t impress Michelle. Ethel’s romance hits a snag, and Andy discovers he has forgotten something very important.

Nick is hanging around annoying everyone else while Detective Sergeant Quick hangs around watching him. Kelvin gets his school results. Den takes a stand that infuriates Dot - who is upset generally at the attitudes of others towards Nick. Angie arrives home unexpectedly.

Michelle is depressed. Kelvin, Lofty and Ian have more problems with their knitting business. Sharon continues to sexually harass (and terrify) Lofty. DS Quick upsets Dot when he pays her another visit. Angie overhears Den talking to his mistress on the phone.

Arthur starts his new job. Tony gets some good news. Andy has an unusual request for Debbie. Nick is really starting to feel the pressure, but very few are sympathetic. Tony and Hannah argue as usual about Kelvin, but come to an agreement to support his business aspirations. Den’s latest venture has The Vic cluttered with boxes, and Sharon continues to turn up the heat.

Angie worries about her image. Tony helps Arthur without realising it, and Dot may have the key to fulfilling Arthur’s allotment dream. A visit from the council upsets Lou, while Deb is charmed by Andy’s new friend. The knitting business hits another snag and Angie plays private detective.

Angie and Den are right back to normal – at each other’s throats, playing games and terrifying Lofty. Michelle is still moping around but is yet to find someone to talk to about what her real problem is. Arthur is happy growing vegetables on the allotment. Ethel is refusing to go out anywhere alone while Nick Cotton is out and about.

Angie is having real difficulties coming to terms with the truth about her marriage, but Den seems to be enjoying watching her misery. Arthur gives Kelvin, Ian and Lofty some business advice and the author of the letter to Naima is revealed.

Sue and Ali are back from their holiday. Tony has security concerns. Arthur is still busy selling spinach and lottery tickets, but Pete and Kath give him a hard time about pilfering from work. Lofty has become Ethel’s regular escort, but ironically, Nick also turns to Lofty for help. Meanwhile, Saeed is miserable without Naima, and Mary approaches Nick for a favour. Den and all the male customers head off to the football, leaving Lofty at the mercy of Angie’s fun and games at The Vic.

Nick tries to mend bridges with Ethel. Dr Legg gets a visit from both Nick and Ali with problems they find hard to talk about, but he has some good news for the Fowler’s. Tony confronts ‘the rat’ he catches leaving the building next to his flat. Meanwhile at The Vic, Sharon’s plans to seduce Lofty go horribly wrong. Michelle finally manages to confide in someone.

Dr Legg is upset by all the litter in Albert Square. Lou is supportive of Michelle. At The Vic, Den tries to make things up with Sharon. Meanwhile, Sharon is shocked to find out the extent of Mary’s poverty. Den opens up to Tony and Saeed thinks he knows who wrote the note to Naima.

At The Vic, Den tries to get things back to normal, but Ethel still manages to surprise him. Lou convinces Michelle to tell Pauline her news. DS Quick is back on the scene, and puts a halt to Lofty and Kelvin‘s retail endeavors. There is some counterfeit money going around.

Andy is grieving and finds a couple of very cute things to distract him. Angie defies Den’s wishes with regards to Nick. Pauline tells Arthur Michelle’s news, but Michelle is adamant about not revealing who the other person involved is.

The christening of ‘the baby’ has to be postponed due to illness. The counterfeit note finds its way back into circulation. Michelle is not at all happy about all the discussion of her situation in her absence, and comes to a startling conclusion of her own.

Deb and Andy plan a trip. Kelvin dobs Tony in for a community project. Ali is up to old tricks. Ethel tries to do Dot and Pauline a favour. Angie and Den have dinner at Deb and Andy’s. Michelle is upset that no one is listening to her and decides to make a long overdue phone call.

Michelle makes plans to meet with the father of her baby, but who is it? Deb decides not to go away with Andy. Ethel continues to have problems at the launderette. The father of Michelle’s baby is eventually revealed, and they come to an agreement.

Nick’s up to something, but what? Michelle informs others of her decision about her pregnancy, but not everyone is supportive of it. A new face arrives in Walford.

Not everyone is happy about Simon moving to Walford. Sue has had a dream that upsets her. Michelle opens up to her gran. Arthur is feeling his age. At the Vic, Angie continues to organise the darts team and a darts competition is held. Debbie turns her attention to business. Nick is up to old tricks and gets hold of some confidential information concerning Kathy.

Ian is put out of his own bed, but doesn’t mind as much as he makes out. Pauline gets a message for Saeed, who also receives a letter from his father. Kathy is distracted and unwell. Dot’s behaviour attracts attention. Simon announces he intends to stay on in Walford. A visitor to the square attracts a lot of attention.

Dr Leggett organises to have the locks changed. Kathy and Simon have a talk about his living arrangements. Mary seems to have made a new friend in Sheena. Michelle begins telling everyone about the baby. The launderette has been robbed.

Arthur takes the lead on the firework committee. Sheena tries to talk to Mary into doing what she does for a living. Sue finds out some home truths. Nick and Kathy come to an agreement.

Angie plans a surprise for Den, but Den’s mind is on someone else. Sheena pushes Mary to start work. Debbie is still keen on Saeed’s shop, but Saeed seems to have other interests – until Andy puts a damper on everything. Angie furious over Den’s deception, is cheered up by an unexpected guest.

Ethel arrives at 11am, 2 hours early for the Christening, because she wrote down 2 one's instead of 1 one. Ali is dancing & flirting with Deb, when Andy cuts in, and Sue, who has seen the way Ali was behaving, asks him if he's enjoying himself.

It’s Halloween. Sharon’s attempts at playing practical jokes keep missing the mark. Simon starts work. Dot asks Tony for help. Deb stustuns Andy with some news, but is more shocked by his reaction.

Dot’s nose is still out of joint about not being invited to Martin’s christening. Angie prepares for the first ‘ladies only’ night at The Vic. Nick’s generosity raises suspicions. Something Dot finds gets Pete concerned. Mary tries out her act in front of someone for the first time.

Nick ups the ante with Kathy. Arthur feels compelled to ask Lofty an awkward question. Pete gets more suspicious about what is going on with Kathy. The ladies night is well attended and the final act well appreciated by most. Kath opens up to Angie and Pauline.

Sheena thinks Mary needs a new look. Hannah and Tony have a talk about their future. Andy comes home. Mary is desperate for a babysitter, so that she can start work. Saeed comes to a decision about his future. Ian has his final training session before the big fight. Kath finally confides in Pete.

Arthur is determined to keep Pete away from Nick. Mary has her first day of work. Cassie spends some time with Tony. Pete makes amends, and Andy comes home. A meeting is held about Nick. Lofty tries to benefit from Simon’s lucky streak.

Ian prepares for the big fight, and gets some extra training from Simon. Mary is starting to feel uncomfortable about Annie’s babysitter. Arthur tries his hand at playing private detective. Nick pushes his luck with Pete. Lou’s health becomes a concern. Mary tells Dot a home truth about Nick.

Debbie thinks she knows who her obscene caller is. The plan to catch Nick out is put into action. Ian has his big fight, but does he stand a chance? Andy keeps up the pressure on Debbie.

Pete has had enough of Nick and decides to teach him a lesson. In spite of Dr Legg’s concerns, Lou refuses to go to hospital for tests. Sheena shows her true colours. Deb is left with her foot in her mouth.

Lou is as difficult as ever. Deb and Andy continue bickering about money. Nick is given his marching orders.

Pauline worries about Lou and calls a family meeting. Dot is livid about Nick’s departure, but Pete and Kathy plan a celebration. At the Vic Dan is suspicious of everyone over a theft and Saeed continues to mope. Deb’s financial situation is getting her down but she finds little sympathy.

Pauline prepares for an important visitor. Deb and Andy’s relationship continues to deteriorate. The Vic’s ladies darts team heads off to compete, much to Dan’s chagrin. Annoyance turns to fury though, when Angie goes AWOL.

A former resident returns to Walford and solves a mystery for Deb. Angie and the car are worse for wear in the morning. Dot is feeling abandoned. Annie gets some new clothes.

Preparations for Lou’s return continue, and provide some entertainment. More money seems to have gone missing at the Vic. More of Saeed’s activities are revealed. Ethel gets into the Christmas spirit.

Lou arrives home - but how will she take the changes? Ali and Sue’s homeownership plans fall short. Andy surprises Deb and gets more than he bargained for. Lofty and Kelvin come up with a new idea for their business. Tony gets some unwelcome news. Angie almost has a brush with the law.

Dot is on the warpath and Angie is jumpy. Andy seeks a special Christmas bonus. Lou finally settles in to her new room. A depressed Saeed begs for Pauline’s help. A cheerful Tony extends the hand of friendship to Dot, but his mood is quick to change after speaking to Cassie. At the Vic, Dan is furious to discover that more money is missing.

Naima agrees to meet with Saeed. Lou is still having difficulty adjusting to her limitations. Dot seems to be feeling better and everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit. Deb loves her Christmas present from Andy. Angie decides to come clean.

It is Boxing Day and there are more than a few sore heads. At the Vic, the missing money turns up. Naima and Saeed finally talk things out. Lou’s decorative outhouse is the talk of the town. Mary upsets Sue and Ali when she stands firm on the new babysitting arrangements. Tony is shocked by an unexpected visit from Cassie.

Michelle, Pauline and Arthur have separated and are scouring the streets of Southend showing pictures of Mark to everyone they see. It is a cold damp day and they are looking miserable and discouraged but trudge ahead.

1986 in Walford starts with the Fowlers taking a trip to Southend to find Mark. On finding him, one of the first thing he and Michelle realise is they're both now parents.

Den gets an early call from David in Ilford. Angie thinks it was Jan but is even more irritated when she learns that Den is up to his eyebrows in some dodgy goods again.

Angie is at the Walford nick giving her statement about the car accident and they telephone Den since she says she took the car without permission. He lies and tell them that he gave her the car to use. Later Quick comes to the Vic and tells Den that as an accessory after the fact he'll be in trouble as well if he doesn't tell the truth. Den goes back to see the WPC and changes his story.

Den and Kathy go to court with Angie leaving Debbie to take care of the pub lunches and Simon and Lofty to manage the bar. Debbie goes a bit overboard trying to fancy up the plates which go unappreciated by Arthur, Pete and the others. The case is delayed and Den returns in the late.

Ali calls about the flat at 47B to arrange for a look. Sue is anxious to see it so it is agreed that they can see it the same day. Ali gets the key from Naima and they have a few embarrassing moments about what happened when Ali helped her move her things out. It seemed that they had sex in the empty flat.

Two blokes have been in the shop flexing muscles and threatening violence if Naima doesn't cough up protection money, and the old Bill don't much seem to care.

As Ali and Sue open the café before dawn, Beresford and Victor get out of their Merc and force their way in. Victor puts Ali's arm in a lock and Beresford calmly explains Mr Scanlon's scheme to provide the immigrants protection for £10 per week and tells them to think about it for 24 hours.

Andy is surprised when Debbie brings Naima home followed by DS Quick who is lugging a Zed bed for the front room. He is quite upset when Debbie informs him that in order to help with the finances since she quit her job, she decided to take in a lodger.

Beresford and Victor are waiting outside the café in Beresford's Mercedes when Ali and Sue open up. Victor goes in to collect the first weekly £10 protection money. Sue quickly gives him the money over Ali's protest. They then go to Tony's house and Beresford goes in. Tony laughs at his insurance scheme and hits him very hard in the stomach.

Den closes the bar early after Jan appears with the news that her dad died. As soon as Angie realises who the new arrival is she shoots upstairs and sits in the darkened kitchen. With all the tension at the pub, Simon goes home with Lofty to spend the night while John Fisher sleeps on the sofa upstairs at the pub.

Sharon comes downstairs to the bar and just stares at Jan who tries to explain how her situation with Den happened. Sharon doesn't say anything but listens rather sympathetically. When Jan decides it's time for her to leave she asks where she could freshen up. Sharon says upstairs and Jan smiles saying not "up there" (where Angie was). She asks about "down here" and Sharon motions toward the corner saying "but the water's cold".

Lou tells Ethel that she gave Simon Albert's watch. Pauline overhears and is upset with Lou for giving the watch to Simon. Pauline claims it should have been given to her as she was the first born. Lou is taken back by this objection and says nothing.

Some thugs show up in the Square looking for Simon. Angie hits up Dot for her sleeping pills to add to her collection. The café and shop are vandalised with red paint and most everyone including the postman pitch in to help clean up.

Angie plumbs the depths of despair when Den tells her he's moving out. Wicksy's true motive for returning to the Square comes to light when he tries to con Pete into giving him a loan.

Ethel puts posters around the square trying to find her missing little Willie. Angie sends her off early from her cleaning at the pub so she can look for him.

Den returns early morning in a cab as Angie covers for him telling Sharon he is walking Roly. Sharon is in a bad mood and nasty to both of them. John Fisher comes by early on his day off to pick up the rest of his gear. He has been worried about Angie since the night before and probably wants to see that she is OK.

Tony takes his laundry to the launderette and Dot tells him all about her date the night before with "a darky" who wined and dined her. Tony confronts her that he saw her in the "Burger Barn" last night on her own. He tells her to give up the dating stories before everyone finds out the truth and laughs at her. She says they do anyway but gets him to promise not to tell anyone.

Angie's slumped over the kitchen table at the Vic full of gin and pills. Time's moving on and it's the small hours when Den finds her.

'We were made for each other... you know that. Den and me. Made for each other. Whatever anybody says.'

Kath's getting wind of Angie's suicide attempt and it's worrying her. It's her day to watch out for Angie and she's pampering her with hot soup and heart-to-hearts.

Michelle begins to feel the pinch. She's feeling lonely and it's dawned on her that she's got the rest of her life and the baby to care for on her own.

Tony and Lofty are beginning to galvanise the Square into making preparations for the carnival. Kelvin and Ian have been delegated costume dying - and things go badly wrong.

In the Vic, the Melbourne Star promotion is in full swing. Lofty and Wicksy are fighting over customers and trying to spot the 'mystery guest' from the brewery.

Den and Michelle have one of their rare but revealing heart-to-hearts. Den's surprised she's behaving like an immature kid over the birth of their baby.

Carnival time in the Square and it goes with a real swing. Lofty's running round like a demented amateur director on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Hannah and Cassie stayed the night at Tony's after, Hannah's boyfriend hit Cassie once again and Tony gave him a smack.

Kelvin tries to reason with Cassie that she needs to stop getting in the way all the time if she wants Hannah and Tony to get back to together.

Sue starts to lose her rag with everyone treating the café like a doss house. Pete tells Arthur about Michelle asking Lofty to marry her and it doesn't go down well. Later on in the Vic, Arthur gets drunk and comes to the conclusion that Lofty is the father of Michelle's baby. Lofty enters and Arthur nearly breaks into a fight. Lofty soon puts him right by showing his love for Michelle.

Arthur tells Michelle that Lofty has no prospects but Pauline agrees to stand by Michelle's decision to marry him. Tomy employs Arthur to help with the shops refurbishment. Debbie changes the living arrangements, putting Naima in the master bedroom, so Andy sarcastically calls it the "bridal suite" and he and Debbie end up shouting at each other. DS Quick tells Debbie he would have a better chance of promotion if he were married. Mary is back to her punk look and tells Andy she was never interested in him. Kathy tells Dot that her smoking is antisocial, which upsets her. Ethel later reads Dot's fortune and sees a lot of love and marriage, but as Dot is already married, Dot assumes it means Charlie will come back.

Dot's in a state and hot on the trail of Ethel, who's been telling her fortune. Pauline chooses a new carpet but Lou doesn’t like the final choice. Lofty starts reading palms and takes all the business from Ethel. The carpet salesman causes trouble in the Queen Vic when he is caught cheating during his card magic trick. Lofty and Michelle share a passionate kiss.

Angie returns home and wants to know where Den is. Lofty asks Arthur for Michelle’s hand in marriage. Mary apologies to Andy for taking his rejection badly. Den returns home and after a chat with Angie he goes back to Jan, which makes Angie hit the bottle again.

Den provides Lofty with a big diamond engagement ring for Michelle. The day is full of engagement celebrations. The romance rubs off on Arthur and he buys Pauline a ring too. Lofty tells Michelle he is planning to become a traffic warden to look after the family. Mary's propositioned on the street which upsets her and she turns to Andy for advice. Arthur is in demand for all kinds of jobs. Den turns into a Victorian parent when he finds Sharon and Ian necking on the sofa. At the end of the day, Ethel is proved right - Nick appears in Dot's life again.

Nick tells Dot that Charlie is not coming back and gives her some cash. He annoys several residents and offers to be a pimp for Mary but she refuses and he says he knows a secret about her. Dot has Ethel read Nick's fortune and she says she sees money. Simon sees Andy and Angie kissing in the morning and finds Andy's watch. Angie says he stayed because he was drunk. Den visits Jan in the daytime so Angie has Andy over while he is supposed to be meeting Mary. Simon sees him leaving. The Fowlers realise they cannot afford much and Pauline says she will get another job but Arthur says it should be down to him. Sue tells Ali she thinks she is pregnant.

In the middle of the night Andy sneaks into the the Vic through the back to go and see Angie to carry on their secret affair. The both of them thinking Simon is in bed, talk about there affair on the stairs and share a kiss not knowing that Simon was in the bar the whole time listening to everything they said!

Dot is informed by the bank that someone she knows tried to cash her cheques but she can see none missing from her chequebook. Dot then wins £250 at bingo. Dot also visits Doctor Legg, who says she may be approaching the menopause. Nick tells Mary they are both outsiders and should stick together. Naima is visited by Mr Gill from The Firm, who takes cash from her till. Mr Gill then goes to the Vic looking for Den but he is not there. DS Quick asks Nick for help finding information on a bank raid. Den catches Angie and Andy together.

are missing after all and her bingo winnings are missing. Nick almost convinces Mary to get into prostitution, leading to a fight between Nick and Andy. Den attacks Andy over his affair with Angie. Kathy and Angie make amends. Den is on edge due to a high police presence on Albert Square and the imminent arrival of his guest.

Sharon is worried about the stranger in her home, while Den is nervous about all the police in Albert Square. DS Quick tells Andy the police heard there is a "villain" in the area and Ali worries about two men he sees. Pete and Kathy worry that Sharon will be a bad influence on Ian, while Simon tells them that Sharon is unhappy and needs a friend.

The guest at the Vic monopolises the bathroom and when Angie knocks on the door to complain that she and Sharon need to use it, he invites her to join him in the bath!

Tony receives a letter from Cassie's school saying she is bullying another girl. After Sharon tells Den she is fed up of him and the Vic, Simon gives Den some home truths. Pauline calls a family meeting. DS Quick asks Debbie for an answer to his proposal but she says she needs more time. Mary thanks Andy because she got the canteen job. Ethel is mugged for her handbag.

Ethel tells a reporter that Den got rid of the mob and several people thank Den for doing so. Ethel gives Den her husband's war medal because she thinks he is a hero. Tony is confused when Hannah says she wants to buy the flat above his. Simon worries the Vic is too dangerous and considers leaving. Den tells Michelle it was a coincidence that The Firm left the area after he was asked to deal with them. Sharon witnesses Den treating Michelle more favourably than herself so she steals money from the till and sneaks out in the night.

Michelle goes into labour but Pauline is nowhere to be seen. Angie panics as she discovers Sharon is missing. Meanwhile, Mary has her first day's kitchen work in the hospital canteen.

Michelle speaks to a mother of four, Lizzie Burton, about how she would cope bringing up her children on her own, as she is thinking about it all the time. Sharon has been staying with Mary. Ethel sees Ian visiting her. Angie and Den report Sharon missing to WPC Howard. Ethel visits Sharon and advises her to visit Michelle.

ony tells Hannah they should stop their divorce before it is finalised but she says she is not sure about it yet. After reading Mary's Bible, Sharon talks to Dot about Jesus and God. Ozcabs is up and running but Mehmet tells Ali their father wants to buy it. Ali is against his getting involved.

Doctor Legg and Dot both complain about the noise and dust created by Tony's work, while Arthur asks Tony to pay him cash-in-hand, for which Pete reprimands him. Dot starts smoking again, then tells Ethel about a church social, which interests Ethel because of the free tea and biscuits.

Michelle brings Vicki home and Arthur is annoyed when Lofty takes charge of hosting visitors, leading to an argument. Den is also annoyed when Lofty makes comments about wanting to be Vicki's real father and Den having no children of his own. Debbie tells Andy they need to show they are not cohabiting as partners and she finally answers DS Quick's proposal by ending their relationship.

Pat arrives in Walford to a mixed reception. Pete and Kathy have a fight with her in the pub, while Wicksy is worried that she's purely out to cause trouble around Albert Square.

Pat is intent on causing trouble for her ex-husband, Pete. So she tells Pauline exactly what she thinks of him, but Pauline loyal as ever and in defence of her brother, slaps Pat.

Den tells Pete he thinks Pat was lying about Wicksy not being Pete's son. During a band meeting upstairs in the Vic, Harry proposes that The Banned gets an additional member.

DS Quick is bitter when he sees Andy and Debbie kissing in the street. Arthur worries about paying for the wedding. Lofty says he has taken his £50 savings from the bank to go towards it.

Ian offers to make Lofty and Michelle's wedding cake for free and asks Naima for a part-time job in the shop. Lofty asks Simon to be his best man and Michelle asks Sharon to be her bridesmaid.

DS Quick questions the band members over the burglary because he associates being in a band with drug use. he also question Kelvin and Cassie, and Cassie cries over the interrogation. Kelvin and Harry confront ds Quick in the pub, claiming he is using the burglary as an excuse to hound groups he dislikes.

DS Quick goes round to the Beales', making enquiries to the youngsters about the crime of the burglary in the surgery and Ethel's. Lou soon puts him right. Wicksy asks Naima to think about getting a flat with him.

Ali feels he has failed at fatherhood and is depressed, later getting drunk and asked to leave the Vic. A drunk DS Quick tells Debbie he wants her back and that he cannot cope with the hatred from the locals and he wants to quit the police force.

Doctor Legg compensates Ethel and Lofty for the burglary. DS Quick tells people he has quit and has a new job in security. Doctor Legg's car is stolen and he berates DS Quick for doing nothing about it and says the crime rate did not drop since he arrived.

Ethel answers the phone in the Vic to a man asking if Michelle had her baby yet, leaving people wondering who it was, especially Den and Arthur. Mehmet has no alibi for when Doctor Legg's car was taken and admits to Ali he was with a friend who is an illegal immigrant and does not want his name mentioned.

Cassie is bullying again and she accuses Hannah of not caring about her and just thinking about money. Kelvin tells Hannah she has spoilt Cassie recently and he will talk to her. Pete books a holiday but Ian says the band need him so Simon convinces Kathy to let Ian stay behind. Naima is fed up of living with Debbie and Andy, who constantly annoy her.

Sue wants to talk to Ali about IVF but he refuses to. Dot tries to apologise to Sue but Sue sends her away. Sue then confides in Michelle about her phantom pregnancy. Mark returns with his Welsh friend, Owen, who Arthur finds fascinating because of his random comments about marrows.

Arthur is forced to look after the café after Ali and Sue leave without warning and Ali later refuses to pay Arthur for his time. Mehmet invites Ali out to a dog race but Ali refuses to go when he sees Mary in the car.

Jan invites Den to New York in November and Den tells Angie. Angie stops Den seeing Jan that night by inviting Willmott-Brown to the Vic. Cassie hears Tony questioning Kelvin about drugs and then Tony and Hannah talking about divorcing in two weeks.

Today's the day for everyone to go to the community centre to give blood. Andy gets down on one knee and proposes to Debbie, who accepts. Ethel faints and causes quite a stir.

Pauline and Lofty talk about the events with Cassie and Pauline is furious with Mark and Owen. Hannah tries to reason with Naima on what to do with Cassie, Pauline bumps into them and tries to apologize to Hannah, Hannah takes no notice and is a total snob about the situation.

Tony and Hannah consider sending Cassie to boarding school. Arthur confronts the Carpenters, telling them to sort out their own problems instead of blaming others as Cassie is also a bully. Arthur thinks Tony will never employ him again. A youth attempts to mug Arthur but Andy stops it and the youth is arrested.

Sharon wants to leave private school and just be a singer so Den tells Angie they will speak to her after the band's first gig. Tony agrees to give Naima until 4pm to raise the money for the flat, which her father agrees to give her. Cassie visits Michelle but tells her parents she was with Kelvin, however, Hannah realises the truth and decides Albert Square is full of bad influences.

Hannah is adamant that Cassie is going to private school. Arthur upsets Dot after she offends him. Harry and Simon bicker, leading to the gig being cancelled. Andy saves a little boy, but with deadly consequences.

Debbie gets some devastating news from the police. Arthur asks to call a truce with the Carpenters.

A reporter arrives to get information about Andy, puts words into Arthur's mouth, twists what Ethel says, angers Den and enters Debbie's home uninvited. Later Andy is front page news but the article is full of inaccuracies.

Debbie leaves for Andy's funeral and Colin moves into Albert Square. Arthur follows Pauline to her class and sees them meditating, while community centre worker Tom Clements tells Arthur that strange things go on in the class.

Everyone's thoughts are with Andy on the day of his funeral. Sharon and Angie go on holiday to Florida. The band agree to change their name to The Banned and enter a competition, for which Simon will write a song.

Sue sees Michelle without Vicki and assumes that she cannot cope. She asks to adopt Vicki so Michelle slaps her hard and orders her out. Mary accuses Mehmet of spiking her drink but he says he wanted her to relax and nothing sexual happened. The band practice with Harry's sequencer and they improvise - everyone likes Simon's playing apart from Harry.

Michelle has a fitting for her wedding dress and the family attend church to hear the banns being read out. Afterwards, Pauline tells Michelle that Den has offered them the Vic for the reception. Michelle refuses to enter the Vic on the wedding day, saying it is not fair on Lofty as he works there.

Arthur is angry when he sees Den paying Tom cash in hand. Pauline says the reception can be at the community centre if all the guests pay £5 towards it, but Arthur insists it is his responsibility to pay for everything. Arthur later breaks down in tears, telling Pauline he is no use to anyone.

After a rehearsal, Harry declares that Simon is no longer needed - they argue and Simon quits, taking his song with him. Mehmet invites Mary to the café at night while he is working the cab radio but they are interrupted by Sue and Ali. The next day, Mehmet tells Sue that he likes variety so Sue says maybe some variety would help her to get pregnant and it would be okay if it was kept in the family.

Simon writes a new song, Every Loser Wins, and plays it to himself on the Vic piano during afternoon closing. Arthur sneaks off for the day, missing the day at the cemetery on the 21st anniversary of Albert's death. Lou is not pleased.

Pauline wins a Glamorous Grannies competition in the Vic. Afterwards, Arthur announces that he has paid for Michelle and Lofty's wedding in full as well as a honeymoon. He then admits to Pauline he used the Christmas Club money that he has been collecting all year and promises to pay it back!

Pauline tells Arthur he could go to prison and she wants to cancel the wedding to pay the money back, but Arthur says it is too late and reminds Pauline they have until Christmas to get the money. After people assume Arthur took out a loan, Pauline suggests telling people that Arthur borrowed it from a cousin and says if they cannot get out of the mess, the whole family will go down.

It is the day of Michelle and Lofty's wedding. Michelle tells Lou she feels "numb" and "frozen" but Lou says it is normal and she felt the same on her wedding day. Ethel reads Lofty's fortune, saying she sees "someone making a right decision".

Den leaves the church early. Michelle tells Arthur she cannot go through with the wedding so he takes her home. Simon tries to cheer up Lofty when they get home but he wants to be left alone and breaks down in tears. Michelle apologises to Pauline and tells her that she loves Vicki's father and will not marry anyone if she cannot marry him.

Michelle and Lofty sit alone in their respective rooms - Michelle is plagued by a series of well-meaning visitors, Lofty plays the tape of Wicksy's song continually. Pete turns up at the community centre to film a video for The Banned, but Harry has sent Kelvin a note to say the rehearsal is cancelled.

Angie gets test results from Doctor Legg - she has liver damage but it is reversible if she stops drinking, otherwise in six months it could be permanent. He recommends seeing a counsellor. Angie tells Den she needs more tests from a specialist. Michelle and Lofty finally talk - she says she was ready to marry him but when she arrived she realised she does not want to marry anyone and needs her independence.

Den spends a frustrated morning trying to get Angie on her own to discuss Jan's ultimatum. Sensing his motive she thwarts him at every turn. Sharon announces she is leaving school early and won't be going back to do her A-levels.

Den continues hounding Angie, but she evades him once more by saying she's going out. Den takes out his subsequent bad temper on Simon by sending him to search for an absent Lofty who has collapsed in his room from a severe asthma attack!.

Den is ready to walk out on Angie and leave everything behind, including his successful like as a publican, but then some devastating news from his wife turns their love-hate relationship on its head.

Kathy explains to Pete why she'd like to become a Samaritan. He's initially shocked, and rather hostile to the idea. Arthur is slowly falling into depression, spending most of the day sat in the same chair. Michelle tries to make the effort to give him some motivation but Arthur tells her to mind her own business!

It's finally The Banned's big competition night. Michelle and Angie go along to support Sharon, but Pete stays at home as he doesn't want to put Ian off. Simon joins him and together they watch the video Pete made of The Banned instead. The actual performance is a disaster - the drum machine plays a completely different pattern, and The Banned quickly become a laughing stock.

Pauline starts a new cleaning job at Colin's flat. Arthur complains that she's taking on too many jobs. Lou warns Pat to leave Pete alone, and accuses her of a past affair with Pete's brother Kenny, suggesting Kenny is the real father of Simon. At a post-mortem for The Banned in the community centre Ian and Kelvin become suspicious that Harry doesn't seem bothered that their performance was sabotaged.

Kelvin and Eddie have a standoff with Harry in the community centre, and ask him to explain why he sabotaged The Banned's competition performance. Harry says the band was useless and had no chance of making it, so he did it to show them all up.

Pat starts working at the Queen Vic. Sharon goes to the job centre to find work and considers going on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS). Pete has a go at Den for allowing Pat to work at the pub. Carmel goes to look at Tony's flat as she has to move within three weeks, but it's too expensive.

Arthur tells everyone he is withdrawing the Christmas club money that day. At the end of the night, he invites Pete and Kathy back to their home but when they arrive, it appears that there has been a burglary.

DS West investigates the burglary. Arthur and Lou say the club money, the post office account book, jewellery and Lou's watch were taken. Later, Arthur tells Pauline that faking a burglary was the only way he could see out of the situation with the Christmas club money but insists he did not take Lou's watch.

DS West questions Arthur at the police station. Pete tries to make things up with Simon, saying Simon is his son regardless but Simon is suspicious and tells Kathy he wants to know what is going on. Sharon meets Jan to make sure she will not be seeing Den again.

Colin makes morning coffee for his overnight guest, Barry, who is nursing a hangover from the disco they met at the night before. Later, in the Square, Colin re-encounters Barry while cycling through the market. Barry winks at Colin causing him to fall off his bike and crash into Kathy's jumper stall.

Den seeks out Jan in Venice. Back in Walford, Lofty and Dot visit Ethel in hospital. Dot advises Colin to remain single, while Barry watches Colin arriving home and jokingly steals his bicycle. Dot tells Arthur he has her support as it took courage to apologise.

Den and Angie take a trip on the Orient Express. Ethel returns to Albert Square. The Fowlers have disappeared and no one knows where they have gone.

Michelle has moved in with Lofty. Colin tells Barry he likes him as a casual friend. Den and Angie return home and Den visits Jan to tell her the truth about Angie - he says he needs a good lawyer so he can divorce Angie and marry Jan. Ethel worries that Charlie is taking advantage of Dot's good nature and stealing money from her.

Pete breaks with family tradition and plans to spend Christmas Day at the Vic with Den. Pat decides to stay in Albert Square and asks Doctor Legg to rent Ethel's flat.

Pete and Arthur have a fight. Charlie flirts with Pat. Ethel is upset that her room has gone. Den tells Angie she will get a big Christmas surprise and tells Colin he is divorcing Angie. Kelvin tells Hannah that he loves Carmel and wants her to move in with him. Barry unexpectedly tells Colin that he is moving in with him.

Arthur's depression gets the better of him, while Michelle and Lofty head off on their honeymoon.

Rezaul arrives but Naima insists she does not want him there, especially when he says he must be paid. She calls both their fathers but both insist that Rezaul stay and Naima accuses Rezaul of wanting to steal her hard-earned business but he insists he can help her make a profit.

Mehmet introduces Pat to his friend while Wicksy conspires to throw a spanner in the works. Sharon tells Angie she is going out for the day and has a late shift, so will be home after 9pm. Angie fears for Sharon's safety with the Walford attacker on the loose and gives her money for a taxi home. Lou accuses Pete of being a traitor.

Hannah disapproves of Kelvin's relationship with Carmel. Barry continues to annoy Colin in the flat so Colin asks him to move out. Pat and Mehmet make a plan and Pat takes Mary out with two strange men. Pete accuses Pat of trying to corrupt Mary and then tells Den to get rid of Pat but Den says she is a good barmaid.

Dot learns of Charlie's intentions to leave her before Christmas. Kelvin informs his parents of his intention to move out - permanently. A severely depressed Arthur locks himself in the allotment shed until Pete forces him out.

Christmas Day at the Vic has unexpected consequences for Angie after Den gives her an important letter. Pauline begins to suspect the identity of Vicki's father, while Christmas cracks Arthur up.

Angie is left reeling about the divorce. Pete and Lou make amends. Arthur breaks down.

Angie and Sharon stay at Kathy and Pete's. Kathy tells Pauline to see Doctor Legg about Arthur. Pat urges Mary to talk to a man, Eamon, in the Vic, saying that she is likely to get her dinner paid for. Mehmet tells Kathy a friend is willing to sell one of her jumper designs if she can make them within four weeks. Pete works out that Kathy can make £400, but she will have to get some help and Kathy thinks she will be overworked.

New Year's Day and Lofty is woken by Michelle typing. Michelle kicks out Ian and Wicksy, who both crashed out at the flat, and prepares to deal with her hungover husband.

Den hears Sharon's screams and comes to her rescue. He insists on driving her over to the Estate. Over at No. 45, Pauline is waiting up for Arthur to come home.

Sharon hears that she can have another week off work. Angie tells her that they'll have to move out from Pete and Kath's flat to a hotel and that Den'll have to pay.

Sharon and Angie move out of Pete and Kath's flat and into a hotel. They both have important interviews today. Angie sees her solicitor, Mr Fenwick, about the divorce.

It's Kelvin's eighteenth birthday; his parents give him an expensive designer watch and his younger sister Cassie sends him hair beads.

It is the morning after the party. Tony suffers a fare-dodger who also adds insult to injury by throwing up in his cab. At Lofty and Michelle's flat Lofty has been banished to the sofa.

Lofty spends the day planning a night out with his wife. He seeks advice on what to do and where to go, but gets lots of different suggestions in response.

Kathy and Michelle are working hard to try to complete Mehmet's knitting order - aided and supported by Ian, Pete and Lofty.

Trade at the Vic is still very bad. Den discovers Lofty's glass full of coins and insists that Lofty stops his scheme to subsidise the punters' drinks.

It is the day after Kathy was let down by Mehmet. All she wants is her jumpers back so she can sell them, but Sue tells her they've been sold and Mehmet himself is away from work "sick".

Hannah is followed home at night and again in the morning. Rezaul offers to walk her home later, angering Tony and Mehmet gets rid of Rezaul when he gives Hannah more unwanted attention. Jan visits Den and says she will run the Vic with him. Den the finds out that Willmott-Brown has bought the nearby Dagmar bar and is going to refurbish it so they will be in competition.

Ali looks for witnesses to someone crashing into his cab the night before, unaware that it was Barry and Nick in Barry's friend's father's car. When Barry asks Colin for a loan to repair the car, Colin says he will only if Barry confesses and that Barry should be getting away from crime.

Pat has a black eye, which Kathy says she deserves for being "evil". Mary tells Den that Mehmet knew the deal with Kathy was a scam so Den, Pete and Tony eventually find Mehmet and trap him, beating him up.

Simon realises that what Pat said about Naima was true and he tells Lou he no longer wants to see his mother. Pete later says he will no longer drink in the Vic while Pat is there and when Pat and Simon argue, she tells him that Pete's brother, Kenny Beale, is his real father.

Tony returns from a night's cabbing with blood on his hands. Wicksy comes home with scratches on his face and Pete seems to have disappeared. Dot then makes a gruesome discovery while walking Willy through the Square gardens - Pat lying bloody and unconscious behind a bench, after being beaten up! Pete gets taken off by the police for questioning, and hits a policeman.

Pete and Simon are released by the police but Pete must come up with an alibi as to his whereabouts in regards to the recent spate of attacks on local women. Guizin and her three children are homeless after Mehmet gambled their house away and then did a runner.

Pete tells Pauline that everyone except for her thinks he is guilty, even Lou and Kathy. Emine and Rayif go missing but are later found by Lofty. Guizin says that Mehmet has left them but Emine says he has only left Guizin.

Pat tells a WPC that she saw her attacker and the officer asks if it is someone she knows. Arthur returns to Albert Square but realises he is not ready and returns to hospital.

Trade is down in the Vic so Lofty suggests a party and Barry suggests making it a cross-dressing party, which Den agrees to. Ian comes up with an idea to prank Pete. Simon talks to Lou about who his father is -

Carmel talks to Mary and they start to get along but Carmel assumes that Mary is going to leave Annie on her own again. Mary says she wants to be liked but just gets used so Carmel says most girls say "no".

DS Todd questions people about the party and he finds out that Pete left early and why and later asks Pete to answer more questions at the police station because they think the same man is responsible for all the attacks on women.

Pete returns home after hours of police questioning and worries he will be charged with the attacks. Kathy says she will visit Pat and find out what she told the police. Pauline thanks Den for keeping Lofty employed but asks if he is doing it for Michelle, which he denies.

Arthur visits Mary and says that prostitution is not the answer and he has worked out that everyone is on their own in the world and he will make something out of nothing.

Pete is fed up of being constantly hounded by the police. Kathy visits Pat in hospital to get her to confirm that Pete did not attack her but Pat says she does not know so she would be lying.

Den and Angie each receive their decree nisi, meaning they will be divorced in 42 days. Dot finds out that Colin and Barry are a gay couple and is horrified and asks Doctor Legg to be tested for AIDS as she used Barry's cup.

Dot attempts to avoid Colin and Barry. Sue tells Debbie about the lump in her breast and admits she is scared to see a doctor about it. Mark arrives following his release but soon leaves with a girl called Jude and Michelle realises he is not coming back. Pat returns from hospital.

Angie and Sharon move into the B&B on Albert Square. During a home visit, Arthur asks Pauline if he can sleep back in the marital bed again and Michelle gives Arthur money to pay back two people's Christmas club money.

Jan has it out with Den. Barry is fined £150 for the car crash and Colin is forced to lend him the money. The past is raked up for Kathy when she receives a visitor who has shocking news for her.

Sue is told her lump is not cancerous so she, Ali and Guizin celebrate. Simon and Sharon use Mary's flat for sex but find Annie there alone and spend the time tidying and see a letter about her unpaid court fine.

Mary asks Ethel to babysit for two hours. Nine hours later, Mary returns to find Michelle looking for clean clothes for Annie, who has vomited after eating chocolate all day. Michelle tells Mary to think about Annie for once and believes that Mary has taken drugs.

Den is two months behind on his VAT payments and Angie tells him if he sells the car that she should get half. Simon books a hotel room for him and Sharon. Mary has another court letter and Ali lets her work in the cab office but she struggles.

Mary is visited by Mr Atkinson, a court warrant officer, who orders her to pay £30 or be arrested. Dot and Ethel help and later Mary works in the café but at the end of the day, Ali is unable to help with any extra money.

Kelvin studies for exams but when Ian cannot find him, he accuses him of spending the day with Tina until he finds out Tina was at home with a cold. Mary continues to struggle with work in the café and cab office, which annoys Ali.

Sharon and Simon return from their weekend away. Barry and Colin discuss new hobby ideas that will allow them to spend more time together. Den and Angie almost get back together, until one of Den's lady friends appears, sending Angie into a furious rage.

Chris arrives following the accident at Mary's flat. Renovation work begins at The Dagmar. Sharon gets fed up of Angie being drunk all the time and says she cannot live with her anymore

Arthur goes to court. Lofty talks about having a baby with Michelle. Sharon wants to move back into the Vic.

Dot and Tom swap properties but Tom's belongings will not fit into the smaller flat so he insists that Dot store them in her hall! Dot refuses and blocks his path. Mary's mother, Edie, arrives and asks Mary for the whole truth. Sue is annoyed as Guizin's children will leave and she thinks they love her more than their own mother.

Pete is fined £200 for assaulting a police officer. Debbie and DS Rich hold their engagement party in the Vic. Angie vows to sort her life out and stop drinking. Mehmet returns and takes Guizin and the children home, which upsets Sue.

Ethel has started collecting odd coins she finds on the floor while cleaning at the Vic. Mary is arrested and taken to the Magistrate's Court for none payment of debt. Tony decides he's going to move back home to Trinidad and buys his flight ticket that afternoon. He tells Colin his plan but asks him not to tell Kelvin yet.

Colin finds out Barry spent the night with another man but later apologises for his jealousy as they have an open relationship. Den and Angie's divorce is finalised. Ethel asks Tom to speak to Pat about moving out but Pat still refuses. Tony tells Kelvin he is moving to Trinidad.

Lou and Pauline start to plan a joint birthday party for Vicki and belated wedding reception for Michelle and Lofty.

Pauline tells Michelle about agreeing to sell the meat for Den but Michelle advises against it so Pauline agrees not to do it. Michelle and Lofty then have their party and get a birthday card for Vicki from Arthur.

Walford is preparing for the general election. Ethel moves back into her old flat above the surgery as Pat moves back into the Vic. Naima isn't sure that she's done the right thing by cutting off her family.

Magda and Sharon return from a shopping trip together. Pauline talks to Michelle about Vicki's father having rights and maybe wanting custody of her one day, but Michelle dismisses Pauline adamant that Vicki's father is no longer in her life. Tom takes Dot out dancing.

Arthur tells Mary not to waste her vote in the general election. Barry eventually opens up to Colin about his health worries. Sue talks with Ali about IVF while Ali agrees to give her driving lessons. Sharon shows a few people the video of a drunken Angie, including Den, and then comes up with a plan.

Barry continues to worry as he waits for the results of his blood test. Michelle tells Pauline that she and Lofty are going to adopt Vicki. Angie breaks down upon watching the video of her drunken self and admits to Sharon she has a problem and that she needs to change.

Lofty asks Den for time off work whilst he and Michelle are interviewed by Social Services over Vicki's adoption. Pat flirts with Ali and asks if he wants company - Ali says he will think about it and leaves.

Arthur and Tom get competitive over the London in Bloom contest. Den asks Ian to do the catering in the Vic, unaware that Magda wants Ian to work for her. Ali worries that Sue is obsessed with having IVF and tells Kathy that he has become redundant in their relationship but he has needs and he asks Kathy for a casual relationship but she refuses.

The Vic and the Dagmar are decorated with flowers for the competition and Tom finds out the judges will be visiting the next day. Mary has a letter from her mother about Annie with some photos.

Pauline is worried about Arthur being unemployed and he realises that people will think he could have another nervous breakdown if he is unemployed again. Colin loses the key to his bicycle lock and he and Barry are questioned by police when Barry tries to cut through the chain with a hacksaw.

Carmel holds a jumble sale to raise money for the health centre and Willmott-Brown donates a honey-glazed ham for a raffle. After Magda and Angie talk, Magda tells Den that she thinks Angie wants him back.

Dot and Ethel look after baby Vicki and reminisce about their own childhoods.

Den is furious when he discovers graffiti on the Vic. Simon and Sharon are unsure about their relationship and ask people what they think of them together. Willmott-Brown worries that business in The Dagmar is slow. Rezaul tells Doctor Singh about his ambitions and then tells Naima the family have called and another of her cousins will be visiting her.

Sue and Ali talk and he says he was never unfaithful to her, which she says was only because he is all talk. He admits he wanted company without doctors or clinics and someone who wanted him, not a baby. Naima gets a letter from Debbie saying she is pregnant.

Ali and Sue are happy and in love again causing them to open the café late and close it early. Farrukh and Naima say they will miss each other when he goes back to Bangladesh. Den agrees to Pete's suggestion of a country and western night in the Vic.

The fruit and veg stall trade is down, and Pete must talk to Lou if his plans for a seafood stall can come off. After Arthur's talk with Doctor Legg, he takes extra care of Lou. The Vic hosts a country and western night.

Angie and Sharon move into the flat above The Dagmar. Den has not been seen but Lofty finds the envelope - it is for Simon from Den with the keys to the Vic's cellar.

Tom tries to get a confession from Arthur about sabotaging the Vic's flowers so Arthur accuses Tom of sabotaging the Dagmar's. Arthur then finds out The Dagmar has come second.

Arthur has stepped up the rigour and regularity of his football training sessions but still has an attendance problem. Sharon tells Michelle she's off to Mallorca for a week for a familiarisation trip with her new job at the travel agency. Angie and Pat are worried for Simon about him getting close to Magda while Den's away.

Lofty forgets that it is Michelle's 18th birthday. Kathy tells Pete that Ian made Tina tell Naima about the missing money. Later, the punk girl enters the Vic when the door is meant to be locked and takes £200 cash from the till. Simon tries but fails to sell his car. Rod tells Mary that he fancies her and she tells him about her overdue court fines for soliciting. Sue and Ali discover that Ashraf is not legally allowed to evict them

Den arrives back from his impromptu holiday to North Africa. Pat overhears his phone call and susses the real reason behind his trip. Carmel's brother, Darren, and his son, Junior, come to stay at her flat, much to her disgruntlement. Darren tells Dot that Nick has got a job as a gardener for the Queen Mother at her posh house in Devon. Angie tells Pat that Den went away to do a job for The Firm which cleared all his brewery debts. Den clocks that something has been going on between Simon and Mags while he's been away.

The pirate radio station is still operating from the café. Mary rings up her mum wanting Annie back, but when her mum refuses Mary tries to lend money from various people in order to go up north herself, but is unsuccessful and throws a brick through her window. Sue and Ali visit baby Hassan's grave and Sue opens up her heart to Ali. Den confronts Wicksy about the missing money and Magda, leading to Wicksy getting kneed and ear full from him.

Den kicks Simon out of the Vic and sacks him. Rod cleans The Dagmar for Mary. Michelle takes on the task of looking after both Martin and Vicki so that Pauline can have a break. Lofty makes a comment about it being good practice for them when they have their second child causing Michelle to snap at him.

Michelle and Den are in a reflective mood after their encounter. Magda decides she'd like to move to Walford permanently. Den brings a lady friend to The Dagmar's disco, in full view of Angie and Magda.

Dot has been stung by a wasp. Mary returns from Stockport. Den announces to Arthur that he is taking over as manager and coach of the Queen Vic five-a-side football team. Ian and Pete are disgusted and resign out of loyalty to Arthur. Wicksy also tells Den to stick it, so Den recruits Kelvin, Ali, and himself as replacements.

Darren is already taking advantage of Carmel and has left her with the children for the day. Her mother can't help out and she has to take time off work. At the five-a-side football match between The Dagmar and the hastily recruited Queen Vic team, Den encourages his squad to play as dirty as they can in order to win. After the match Den tells Pete that Wicksy can have his job back at the Vic, with a pay rise. Magda tells Wicksy she's decided to rent Kelvin's flat, and asks Wicksy to move in with her.

Tensions rise between Colin and Barry after the football match. Wicksy is feeling sorry for himself after Den kicking him at the match, Angie tells him that they'll get him back through the takings by attracting more customers to The Dagmar. Mary receives some good news from Carmel - it turns out she's been examining her case and she thinks there is a good chance Mary will get Annie back. Arthur starts his Manpower Services Commission course.

An unusual woman arrives in Walford. Colin and Barry end up in a row which leads to Colin putting down his foot about rent issues in which Barry isn't paying. Doctor Legg and Dot discuss how Mary deserves to be with Annie. Martin has a near accident in Lou's care.

Barry is excited about his trial at The Dagmar. Naima shows Donna the ropes at the shop and Donna lands herself another job at the Vic. Mary receives a letter from social services. Tensions grow at the ladies' dart team rehearsal for the match.

It's Kelvin's last day in Walford and Sharon, Barry and Ian are busy arranging a surprise party for him that evening. Everyone is excited about the Lady Mayoress coming to town and gather at The Dagmar to meet her. Donna settles in at the Vic and becomes friendly with Pat. Kelvin leaves without attending his surprise party leaving a note for Carmel saying he can't face saying goodbye so the residents celebrate what they've got left of him.

The Vic ladies' darts team sets off for the Isle of Dogs for the big match. Ali, meanwhile, is fixing up a poker game for the men later that day. News reaches Mary that social services have approved the flat dashing her with joy. Tina's parents turn up in Walford, wanting answers about the way their daughter is living.

Pat and Frank catch up on old times. Pauline and Derek get to know each other. Ethel, Dot and the rest of the team go on a river trip. Tina's parents, aghast at her living situation make her return home to Ilford with them.

Naima moves into the Fowler's. Doctor Legg decides to take up jogging. Ethel is excited to hear of Willmott-Brown's upcoming Mardi-Gras party at The Dagmar. Carmel tells Mary that her parents are delaying returning Annie, which sends Mary into a rage. Darren overhears Doctor Legg wanting the outside of the surgery repainting and offers to get a team onto it for £300 including materials.

Rod and Carmel persuade Mary to allow her parents to inspect her flat. Darren hires Rod to paint the surgery for him, and then disappears. The launderette gets robbed while Dot is out buying her outfit for The Dagmar's evening party. Derek turns up once again in the launderette and goes for a walk with Pauline, to tell her his friend can't help selling Kathy's jumpers after all. He says there's no real reason for him to come to Walford again, unless she just wants to see him again, but Pauline politely declines.

Michelle finds out from Doctor Legg that she isn't pregnant, and dreads telling Lofty. She spends the whole day talking it through with Kathy, Naima, Den and Magda before eventually telling him. She explains she doesn't want another baby, she wants to get on with her life, get a job, and if he wants a baby so badly he'll have to stay at home and be the mum. Rod is busy painting at the surgery, without Darren. They meet in the Dagmar at lunchtime and get drunk, much to the doctors' disgust. Donna talks to Kathy in the Vic and asks if she can get some work with her making jumpers, saying her dad was a tailor and her mum a dressmaker. Kathy looks unconvinced.

Lofty is still thinking about Michelle's ultimatum. Sue tells Arthur and Angie that she and Ali are thinking of moving away from the grime and stress of Albert Square, inspired by the lovely new flats she saw on the Isle of Dogs. Mary tells Rod he has to move out of her flat temporarily so she has a better chance of her parents handing Annie back.

Guizin returns to help Ali out at the café. Ali tells her that Sue has gone to stay with her father, but later, Sue phones the café and Guizin learns that Ali doesn't know where Sue is. Sharon thinks Angie are Den are missing each other, and starts thinking of how she can get them back together. She asks both Den and Angie separately to take her out the next night, with the intention of ducking out, thereby setting them up on a date together.

Den crosses paths with Wicksy while walking Roly in the Square gardens, and makes amends following the scrap over Magda and Wicky's sacking. Pete and Donna chat in the Vic but Donna becomes defensive when Pete asks about her parents and where in Scotland her dad's pub is. Doctor Legg is let down again by Darren who continues leave the outside of the surgery half painted. Den suggests he and Angie spend the night together, but she declines.

Angie sneaks out of the Vic in the early morning, having spent the night with Den. Doctor Singh is still trying to track down Darren to finish painting the surgery. Pete has a go at Ian in the café for skipping college. Magda drops some building society information off to Wicksy, so they can get a mortgage for their new place together in the Square. Willmott-Brown says he'll put Colin forward for the local brewery's massive new design contract after Colin lies and says he'll get a couple of design graduates to help him manage the workload. Rod is going to move out of Mary's flat so Mary's parents have one less excuse not to hand Annie back.

Doctor Legg reassures Pauline that Lou will be okay. Angie and Den appear to be getting on well again. Guizin asks Barry to cover a shift on the radios at Ozcabs. Rod is offered a job far away from Walford for six months.

Colin gets increasingly frustrated at Barry's messiness in the flat, and eventually goes on cleaning strike. Mary cleans her flat from top to bottom and anxiously awaits her mum and dad's visit, eager to see Annie again. Ethel and Sharon each bring presents to welcome Annie back. Ian continues to skive college.

Lou braces herself for a meeting with Uncle. Colin asks Barry to get Kathy to visit him at their flat. Mary resists her parents sweet talk, wanting to know when she can have Annie back. Wicksy and Magda are keen to buy a place in Albert Square before they are all snapped up by city folk. Guizin is worried that once Martin Hunter's documentary is broadcast, Walford house prices will go through the roof and the area will become as bad as Wapping.

Martin Hunter returns to the Square to make his TV documentary. Arthur has a surprise for Pauline. Sharon seeks solace in a church, alone, where she catches the eye of a young curate, Duncan Boyd. Sue returns after her impromptu break.

Colin receives a letter from his friend Ginny in New York telling him a friend of a friend has died of AIDS. It's Sharon's 18th birthday. Doctor Legg instructs Ethel that she is too old to be carrying Willy any more. Dot says she will make sure Ethel does as she's told.

Colin finishes his portfolio and goes off to present his work. Naima is excited when she receives a letter announcing an imminent visit by her cousin Farrukh. Ethel reads Dot and Tom's fortunes from playing cards. She sees a dark man coming in to Dot's life, but says it's not Charlie or Nick, and she sees Tom surrounded by beseeching women.

Barry's exercise bike has arrived, but Colin's too wrapped up in the brewery design job to take much notice. Barry and Donna arrange to meet that evening. Lofty has an argument about a pancake roll with the owner of a Chinese takeaway and is instantly arrested by the police and taken down to the station.

The Cotton family is settling down to life together under one roof. Nick and Charlie eye each other suspiciously. Nick talks to Darren about hiring someone to get Charlie out of the Square. Ali buys pints for everyone at the Vic and shares the news of Sue's pregnancy.

Junior tries to buy fireworks off Naima but she refuses to give him any. Sue accuses Naima of selling fireworks to underage children again but she denies selling anything illegally. Ethel falls over in the Vic and calls Doctor Legg over to check her out. Doctor Legg tells Ethel he thinks they should consider sheltered accommodation for her but she tells him she is not interested. Dot convinces herself that Charlie and Nick are getting along.

A graffiti artist is running wild all around Walford, and Junior gets the blame. Meanwhile, nearly the whole of Albert Square has got food poisoning from Ian's dodgy smoked salmon. Dot attacks Den, who in turn lays into Ian.

Lou talks to Pete about him and Pauline inheriting the stall when she's gone. Pete tells Pauline they should just sell it and split the proceeds, but Pauline says they're not selling it. Barry's reached his target weight of ten and a half stone. Colin offers to cook a meal for Sharon, Barry and Donna, but Donna starts getting defensive when the others start asking her about her mysterious background.

Mary is worried because today is the day the health visitor, social worker, and Doctor Legg are going to discuss her case. Naima's cousin Farrukh returns, and they both agree to close the shop, marry in Birmingham and return to Bangladesh as soon as they can.

Ian is mugged in a dark alley and has his wallet stolen. At the same time, someone throws a brick through Ali and Sue's window. Ian starts thinking about getting a knife for protection. Naima and Farrukh leave the Square to marry and start a new life together.

Angie and Willmott-Brown go out, leaving Mary to look after the Dagmar until they return. Once they have gone, Rod arrives and tells Mary that the social services will be visiting her in the afternoon. She leaves the Dagmar unattended and unlocked to find Carmel. Pete offers to sponsor Ian for the charity night at the Vic and questions him over his intentions of buying a knife. Mehmet tries flirting with Donna.

Willmott-Brown is praised by several residents for assaulting the burglar. Barry continues to search for sponsors for the charity night at the Vic. Charlie continues to wind up Nick, enjoying the reaction he is getting.

Mary refuses to leave Annie's side now that she has her back. Dot avoids Colin, blaming him for her arrest. Den asks Sharon to spend Christmas with him.

Darren puts the tapes he has received into envelopes. Dot is adamant Charlie will not get a penny out of her as she is saving for Christmas, but she ends up giving him £15. Colin has still not found his keys. The ladies practice their darts at the Vic.

Darren receives another package from a friend. Sue hounds Ali to talk to Alan about his disrespect towards them. Pauline searches for an old photo for Lou, who is attending a talk at the community hall about the old East End.

Darren takes another parcel into Carmel's flat and hides it behind her sofa. Magda asks Simon to help her bag a contract with a big firm in the city. Angie phones Pat and invites her for a drink so they can spend time together.

It's court day for Dot and Charlie. Dot is fined £90 and Charlie is fined £50. Angie is dreading Christmas, meanwhile the police continue their investigation into Colin's burglary. Sue and Ali are also targeted and Ali accuses the new landlord. Colin is worried that his relationship with Barry will be investigated.

Charlie and Dot's faces are on the front page of the newspapers and Dot is upset about it. Pat reassures Simon there are no hard feelings for him choosing Magda over her. Barry remains on edge since Regis' visit.

Simon staggers home with a Christmas tree as a surprise for Magda. Christmas preparations are in full swing for the Beales and Fowlers. Ethel gets a rush of excitement for Christmas.

Mary starts a new job at the launderette following Dot being sacked after the paper published news of her recent court appearance. Darren is chastised by Carmel for his wheeling and dealing antics in the Square. To make up for his ways, he organises and hosts a children's Christmas party at the café. Arthur gets a top-up loan from the private money lenders. The Fowlers' cooker gets condemned due it it leaking gas. The Fowlers start to prepare to relocate to Pete's house for their Christmas Day dinner.

Mark makes a surprise visit to see his family on Christmas Day. Mary spends the day in the hospital with Annie who has been under observation following the car crash. The Fowlers spend Christmas Day at Pete and Kathy's. Sharon has Christmas dinner over at the Vic with Den and Pat. The atmosphere is too quiet and dull for her liking.

Sharon is very nervous - she is due to meet Duncan and his mother for lunch and then plans to formally introduce Duncan to Angie and Den during the evening. Angie has had enough of the personal comments from Gerry and his friends at the Dagmar. She knocks Gerry out with one hard punch, quits her job and storms out leaving Simon to cope on his own. The Fowlers buy a second hand cooker.

Angie has been missing for a couple of days since she stormed out of the Dagmar, leaving Wicksy in charge, who employs some temporary help. The Vic is getting ready to expect a lot of customers who are looking to enjoy themselves on New Year's Eve.

Angie puts a proposition to Den that she'll return to the Vic as a business partner, and they will split the profits 50/50. Doctor Singh tells Doctor Legg that he'll be leaving to move up north in a month's time, to work on a research project into the use of narcotic drugs. Pauline catches Den in a quiet moment and hints that she knows he is Vicki's father. Donna gets drunk while working in the Vic. Sharon asks Duncan if they could get engaged.

Ethel says her goodbyes in Walford before she moves into sheltered housing. Sharon comes to Simon's rescue when he is left in the lurch at The Dagmar. Ian offers to cook Donna a meal.

Pat is summoned by Lou to discuss a family matter. Colin intends to act on some helpful advice and the Osmans seek an expert's opinion on their troublesome neighbour.

Colin is feeling low due to Barry moving out of the flat. Pauline is considering taking on a cleaning job at The Dagmar now Angie's not working there. Lofty is over the moon about Michelle's pregnancy, but she is not happy about it or ready to move back in with him, and asks him not to tell anyone just yet.

Lofty continues to tell people about Michelle's pregnancy, whilst Michelle phones the hospital. Barry considers moving into Ethel's old flat and Arthur is offered a job.

Sharon and Duncan talk about Angie. He reassures her, and tells her, that her mother's drinking is not her fault or responsibility. Arthur finds out from Darren that Michelle is pregnant, and although cross at hearing it from a stranger, he's over the moon. Michelle meets with Den in the Square to discuss her plans for an abortion. He tells her its her body and her decision. She then asks Lofty to look after Vicki while she pops out, where she then goes to the private clinic to set a date for her abortion.

Michelle reaches a decision which stuns Lofty and her family and Arthur is confronted by the loan shark.

Arthur and Pauline struggle with Michelle. Lou receives another letter from Kenny. Lofty repaints the flat.

Pauline yet again sees Den chatting to Michelle. Den hires Frank to help out at the Queen Vic. An indoor fete at the community hall goes awry for Sue and Kathy. Lofty accepts Willmott-Brown's job as barman.

Pete is being hounded by an unsatisfied customer, and he tells him to get lost. Rod is stitched up by Darren regarding a job he wants him to do. Dot seems to be being watched by a man in the café. Rod vows revenge on Darren, saying he can run but he cannot hide.

Pete is nervous about his brother Kenny turning up after 23 years away. Dot gets worried when a man with a beard keeps hanging around Bridge Street Café. Rod tells him not to step out of line. The man leaves, but comes back later. Dot says if he robs her, all she has to do is scream and everyone in the market will come in and stop him, but the man says if he was going to rob her, he would not hang around where everyone saw his face. He says he has got a new job and Dot soon realises he is harmless and they go for a drink in the Vic later on. Lofty is still angry at Michelle for aborting their baby and he wants to leave Walford.

Kathy receives a worrying call on Samaritan duty and believes it is someone from the Square she may know. Pete is becoming moody about his brother Kenny coming to Walford from New Zealand. Ian helps Barry move his belongings into his new flat.

Ethel returns to the Square to see Dot, having heard about Kenny's visit. Den gets fed up of Darren dealing in his pub. Chris gets advice from Willmott-Brown about him potentially losing his driving licence following his car crash in December.

Conversation about Kenny is rife among the Beale and Fowler family. Dot is excited to write an article for the local church newsletter. Barry invites Colin for a drink at the Vic before he goes clubbing with Elizabeth, Ian and Judy.

Pat is in a foul mood the day after seeing Kenny. Ashraf and Sufia are pleased with Arthur's work at the shop. Elizabeth is impressed with Ian's cooking.

Sue worries about the baby as she has not felt it kick. Darren wants to join Ian and Barry in their disco business.

Kenny and Pete want answers from Pat as to who the father of Simon is. Sue is worried that her second baby may die another cot death. Carmel says that someone to have a second baby to die of cot death is unheard of. Tom is reluctant to let the disco go ahead at the community centre but agrees to it as long as he can see everyone who enters and no one carries any alcohol in.

It is Ian's 18th birthday and he receives an adult book from someone but he doesn't know who. Kenny and Pete start to get along well. Magda hounds Willmott-Brown for an answer about her offer on his house.

Den is in a happy mood and visits Angie in the hospital. They talk about looking for a pub in Richmond and she says she has a proposition for him, which she will explain later. Magda has relationship problems. Chris makes things up with Mary.

Preparations are in full swing at the Vic for Angie's homecoming. Den is snappy, while Sharon is excited. Wicksy arrives to talk to Den and is sent packing.

Den tells Simon to get over Magda and move on with his life. Mary is angry with Rod. The Beales and Fowlers have a party before Kenny leaves.

Magda searches for Willmott-Brown, desperate to know if her offer on his house has been accepted. Pete misses Kenny now he is gone. Donna waits for a phone call from Simon. Pauline cannot stop worrying about the debt Arthur is in.

Elizabeth's presence in the Beales' flat causes tension between Ian, Kathy and Pete. Sue refuses to sit around and wait for her baby. Donna tries to get Den's attention at the Vic but is unsuccessful.

Wicksy arrives home from holiday and spends the day playing Magda and Donna off against each other. Elizabeth gives Ian the run-around. Darren's 'African Culture' evening is not all it seems, as it has an exclusively male audience and Dot gets the shock of her life when she walks in on it and faints!

Dot saves the day at the laundrette, and Den warns Pat that he's selling up. Sue busily cleans the flat, convinced the baby won't arrive until Saturday. She then goes into labour, whilst Ali is caught in a traffic jam. Frank meets up with Pat, suggesting he sells his business to buy into a business with Pat. Kathy tells Pete that she is going to accept the job offer at the Dagmar.

Ian bails Arthur out of a tight spot, whilst Frank discusses the tenancy of the Queen Vic with Mr Sparrow. It is the first day at the Dagmar for Kathy and Willmott-Brown celebrates with a bottle of champagne. Pete disapproves of her working there. Guizin arrives at the café to help out. Sue comes home with baby Ali and the residents hold a party for them where both Lofty and Michelle try to make amends. Magda breaks off her relationship with Wicksy and tells him to move out of the flat. She's hoping to exchange contracts with Willmott-Brown that day on 43 Albert Square, and tells Wicksy she'll now live there alone, but Willmott-Brown keeps avoiding her.

Den continues to get information on pubs to look at, and goes with Angie to see two in Epping Forest, but she seems less interested now. Angie tells Kathy how good her holiday in Spain was with Sonny and Ree. Magda finally manages to catch up with Wilmott-Brown to find out why his solicitors are ignoring her request to exchange contracts on Number 43, only to find out he's accepted a higher offer on the house, leaving her gazumped for a third time. Upset about both losing yet more money in trying to buy a house and her recent break-up with Wicksy, she decides to leave Walford that day to go and live with a friend who has a spare room in Fulham.

The presence of Elizabeth at the Beales' flat continues to cause problems. Frank and Pat learn that the brewery want a married to couple to own the Vic.

Ali and Sue learn that Alan has bought Number 43 off Willmott-Brown and is converting it into luxury flats. Sharon invites Duncan round for afternoon tea. Angie sees how Kathy is getting on working at The Dagmar. She tries to talk to Kathy about something but cannot bring herself to do so.

Donna continues to flirt with Ian, seeming to want to get at Simon. Kathy is not impressed with Donna, worrying she will hurt Ian. Dot helps Mary out at the launderette, leaving Ethel, who has visited to see her, alone.

Chris brings a JCB to the Square to renovate the old tyre site into his new business. Kathy acts differently following Donna's revelation, but refuses to tell Pete what is up. Arthur keeps his £300 winnings in an envelope on him. Darren makes another one of his "business" phone calls.

Kathy tells a shocked Pete that Donna is her long-lost daughter. Lofty confronts Michelle in the Square as he prepares to leave for his new job in Bedfordshire. He has a long conversation with Den, who is the only one to witness his departure.

Residents complain about the party in the squat. Den starts a shady deal with the Firm. Sue is anxious about her baby. Tom has a heart attack and dies in the toilets of the Vic, leaving Dot devastated.

Carmel is fed up with taking on everyone else's problems and wants some support herself. Dot is touched when she finds the late Tom's memento.

It's the day of Tom's funeral, and Dot is sad at the lack of a congregation that includes just her and Ian. Colin is feeling lonely, and finds some potential new friends, which goes wrong as they mug him. Pat is visited by an unwelcome face as her husband Brian Wicks turns up at the Vic. Brian insults Pat, saying she is a tart, and is sent off by Frank

Angie talks to Duncan about Sharon. Pat hears something about her tenancy application for the Vic with Frank. Den overhears Angie on the phone to a mystery man and phones her friend Ree to find out the truth about her new secret romance.

Carmel persuades Darren to take the children out for the night, so she can cook for her new date. Colin isn't sure he can face the trauma of reporting his assault to the police.

Angie and Pat make up for their recent digs at each other. Guizin wonders where Sue is when she does not show up for work. Junior is caught vandalising Turpin Road with paint.

Kathy is surprised by an expensive birthday present from Willmott-Brown. Sharon is surprised to find Angie up and early. Pat prepares for a visit from Frank's teenagers, Ricky and Diane. Carmel is at her wits end with Darren. Chris is torn between a domestic crisis and the demands of his business.

Michelle and Sharon move into Number 43. Wicksy takes Mary out. Ian is still annoyed with Kathy for interfering with him and Donna - he's giving her the silent treatment. Carmel is at her wits end with Barry and his late-night record playing. Pat is quickly settling into the idea of her being a landlady. Carmel's mother turns up in the Square wanting answers about Darren. Kathy tries to reason with Ian about why she got involved with the bombshell of Donna's paternity in tow.

Sharon and Michelle have a house warming party. Some of Mary's friends bring some 'gear', but Rod grabs it away and tells her it's a mug's game. Ian is not speaking to Kathy after she told him Donna was her daughter.

Willmott-Brown is still making a nuisance of himself with Kathy, and Pete is getting jealous. Sharon seems depressed following Angie's sudden departure to Spain, so Den invites her over for dinner to talk about her.

It's a busy day ahead for Chris as it's the day of the opening of his new haulage business. A depressed Mary asks Chris for some money. Unbeknownst to Chris, Mary needs the money to purchase some speed from a drug dealer. Pete takes Lou to the cemetery. Michelle has a dinner party to cheer up Colin and Sharon.

Ian finds his loyalties split between family and friends over Donna's parentage. Charlie's return to Albert Square starts Dot planning.

Den advises Frank on how to treat his customers. Darren has his ear to the ground for business openings. Lou puts her oar in again to fix a problem for grandson Ian.

Willmott Brown shows too much interest in a certain rival business. Kathy meets up with Donna's adoptive parents. Wicksy goes for a ride on Cindy's motorbike, making Donna jealous.

With Doctor Legg on his case, Ian has to decide where he is going to live. Colin asks for Richard's opinion on his latest work project. Wicksy's girlfriends Donna and Cindy meet head on. Brad tricks Darren into "doing business" with him, but instead has him beaten up by the Firm and returning to the Square injured in a taxi, much to the delight of Den, who tells him that will teach him to mind his own business, while Darren vows revenge.

Ali continues to find it difficult running the café without Sue, who is staying at home with baby Ali. Frank and Pat return from their management course in Brighton and prepare for their imminent takeover at the Vic. In an argument Pauline lets Michelle know that she knows that Den is Vicki's father.

Pauline kicks Ian out from the house when his disco set makes too much noise. Brad brings Joanne Francis, the wine bar's new manager, to the Vic to meet Den. He also gives Den more money to launder. Carmel and Colin get into a political row over the community centre.

Wicksy asks Cindy to Den's opening night at the wine bar. Willmott-Brown is troubled that he can no longer get credit from his suppliers. Den takes Joanne to the Dagmar.

Den and Joanne prepare to open their new-look wine bar with a champagne supper, while Pat and Frank celebrate taking over the tenancy of the Queen Vic.

Detective West arrives at the Vic and questions Frank about money laundered during Den's tenancy. Lou is unwell and there is friction between Kathy and Ian, who is living at the Fowlers'.

Pete is put out by Kathy working two jobs. Pat continues to have problems adjusting to life with Ricky and Diane. Carmel holds her youth disco in aid of the Community Centre Fund

Lou is off to the seaside, but does not leave in a very good mood. Pete and Kathy are still having problems. Wicksy celebrates his birthday with a party in Pete and Kathy's flat but has quite a job keeping all his guests happy.

Simon's birthday party continues. Michelle supports Kathy. Den seeks out revenge on Willmott-Brown.

Kathy goes through an ordeal. Simon is mortified to find out what happened on the night of his birthday. Willmott-Brown returns to the Dagmar to find it burnt down.

Willmott-Brown is interviewed by DI Gray about raping Kathy and is later arrested and charged. Donna hears about Kathy's ordeal and visits her. The news starts to spread around the Square and Dot can barely keep up.

Barry tells Colin he's got a new job on a cruise ship via his new friend Trevor, who's swung it so Barry can run the disco. He's just sold his record stall to Rod and is leaving Walford tomorrow. Lou returns from Leigh-on-Sea in a black cab, via her husband Albert's grave. She gives Ian a list of people and times that she wants to see them, and makes him run round Albert Square sending each person over to her at Number 45 in turn. Arthur loses his job at the shop after the Karims become unsettled by the frequent police visits to see Arthur about the fire at The Dagmar. He tells Pauline and they vow not to tell Lou about it.

Lou continues doing her rounds around the Square, telling certain people a few home truths. Pat confides in Donna about maternity and parenting issues. Colin and Barry enjoy themselves by getting drunk on cider. After much thinking and probably the guilt lingering over her after Lou gave her a piece of her own medicine, Pat finally tells Wicksy that Brian Wicks is in fact his biological father. Lou gathers her family together at Number 45 and goes around them one by one, giving each a lecture but also words of encouragement and a gift. Satisfied that she's given her family one final sorting out, and feeling she hasn't got long left to live, she heads to bed saying "I can go now".

It’s a sad day in Albert Square when Pauline discovers a deceased Lou in her bed, after the matriarch died peacefully in her sleep.

The police are on patrol around the Square. The passing of Lou takes a toll on Pat. Frank discusses visiting his mother. Colin’s been up all night with physical pains.

Dot's on the warpath to get some antibiotics that will wheel her away from her smoking addiction. Carmel has managed to pay off some of Darren's debts, and Brad gives Rod a job - to slip a few allegations to the police about Den.

The Firm give Den an ultimatum, but Den has thought of a compromise. Kathy books herself a doctor's appointment with Doctor Legg.

Roly goes missing. Guizin has her eye on a resident, keen to hire them to work at the café. Brad meets with Mantel to discuss Den. Donna angrily confronts Simon in the Square about taking her job.

Police swarm the Square and search Den's room in the B&B. Pete thinks Ian is being taken for a fool being given commission by Guizin whilst working at the café. Simon tries to get Cindy off the stall to spend time with her.

The day arrives for Simon to return to work at the Vic and Ian to start work at the café. DS West questions Pete over Den's whereabouts. Pauline gets angry with Dot for her lack of productivity at work.

Pauline is nervous about her first shift at the Vic. Sue wants change at the playground. Rod receives an eviction notice from the council for living in Mary's flat.

The Beales and Fowlers are in for a day of shocks and surprises, but Pauline once again pulls the family together. Doctor Legg and Ethel welcome an old friend. Dot is devastated to hear from Colin that Charlie has left her and gone to Liverpool to be with his other wife and her half-sister Rose and has stolen her holiday money and other possessions as well.

Donna asks a favour of Michelle and Sharon. Ricky lands a job. Frank receives a letter from his mum Mo. Ashraf worries about Shireen. Sharon pays Joanne a visit.

Frank prepares for his mother's arrival and her reaction to Pat. Donna gets on Michelle and Sharon's nerves. Den tells Christine he won't be pushed around. Rod gets evicted from squatting in one of the flats at 23 Albert Square.

Sharon and Michelle are at odds, due to Donna's mischief-making. Mo is upsetting everyone at the Vic. Ian lands an important catering order. Pete is meant to be on a diet, so when Wicksy distracts him, Big Ron steals his pie and chips. Ricky asks Wicksy for advice.

Den is alone in the hideaway, but there are heavies outside. Sharon and Michelle plan to get rid of Donna, and Mo plots to stay at the Vic.

It's charity music hall night at the Vic with Big Ron first up on stage to play the spoons. Den is returned to Walford in police custody and interviewed by Detective West. Wicksy tries to persuade Donna to leave Sharon and Michelle's flat.

Pat visits Den in prison. Den wants to write Sharon a letter, but doesn't know what to say. Carmel, Matthew, Junior, and Aisha all spend the day at London Zoo. Matthew subsequently agrees to move in.

Matthew moves into the Square. Colin is anxious about his latest test results. Dot rallies friends for a new venture. David confronts Doctor Legg about Colin's health and reveals he has multiple sclerosis. They both agree it is best not to tell Colin the truth, as he may not have another attack for at least 20 years.

Colin again asks Doctor Legg about his test results, who falsely assures him everything is fine. Michelle misses the surgery. Dot is not above a little blackmail. Kathy is at a low ebb. Den meets old friend Johnny Harris in prison.

Pete receives advice from Doctor Samuels about Kathy. Ian is worried about Donna. Den is given a warning by Johnny. Mo arrives in the Square with unpleasant news for Pat - she is moving into the Square.

Benny prepares for his first date with Ethel. DS West visits Den at the prison. Kathy goes to court.

Pauline grows tired of Ian and Simon's careless ways of living. The day of Den's bail hearing arrives. Cindy and Ian continue to grow closer.

Cindy helps Ian out with another catering contract. Guido meets Colin for a meal at the Wine Bar. Sharon talks to Pat after visiting Den.

Donna tries to wheedle a favour from Ian. Wicksy wakes up to the fact that Cindy is spending a lot of time with Ian. Sharon and Michelle approach Ali for some work at the café. Ian invites Cindy back for coffee.

Frank decides to have a fatherly talk with Ricky. Mantel and Brad look after the preparations for the evening's entertainment in the wine bar. Dot continues her obsessive interest in Walford's neighbourhood watch. Mo nags Frank about the attention Pat is giving Den with her regular prison visits.

Pauline awakens Ian and Simon and has harsh words with the pair of them. Donna steals a loaf of bread from the shop whilst Sohail is not looking. Mo continues to irritate Pat.

Brad falls foul of Mantel. Pauline has some good advice for Donna. Sharon and Michelle have a double date. Ian asks the girls to do some waitressing for him. Colin meets Guido at the wine bar.

Mr. Sparrow ups his party guest list and Frank begins to think that he will not be able to cope with the pressure. Den receives another visit from D.S. West. Joanne tells Cindy that she has bought the flat above Michelle and Sharon. Pauline puts up a list of house rules for Ian and Wicksy.

Matthew and Carmel prepare for their imminent wedding. Kathy tells Pauline she has left Pete, but he appears to be in denial. Pat is annoyed when she finds Frank helping Ian.

Kathy phones a cab firm for a taxi to take her out of Albert Square immediately. Matthew returns to the flat after spending the night at the B&B. Pete wallows in self-pity.

Ian is on hand to solve the problems at the café. Michelle and Sharon both have their eyes on a telephone engineer.

Frank tries explaining himself to Pat but gets nowhere. Dot visits Nick in the prison and gets upset when he tells her his trial is in June. Pete gets drunk again, with disastrous consequences.

The police question Pete. Nancy Jacobs, an Australian, turns up at the Vic for a trial shift as the first day of the all day opening arrives. Rod struggles to help Donna.

Donna receives a mysterious phone call that leaves her distraught, and a surprise visitor scuppers her plans. Pat and Frank have cross words, but finally settle their argument. Ricky is caught buying alcohol for Junior.

The women in the Square all receive the same Valentine cards from an unknown sender. Colin has a dinner party and invites Carmel and a very drunk Matthew, who have just returned from their honeymoon. Den's trial is fast approaching and Michelle phones up the surgery to inform Doctor Legg that she is too ill to go into work the next day.

It is Den's last day in prison before his case goes to court and he gets a visit from Sharon, who tells him she doesn't want his money. Colin invites Donna to dinner in the hope that he can talk some sense into her. Guido and Colin have a talk about their future. The Firm have a meeting about Den. Michelle tells Pauline that she is going to the court to see Den.

Michelle prepares herself for Den's court hearing. Kathy returns to the Square to see Ian and Pete.

Wicksy asks Pat if he can move into the spare room at the Vic. Michelle goes to the wine bar to ask Mantel if he knows where Den is, while Den desperately tries to contact Michelle. They arrange to meet at the canal as the Firm desperately search for Den to seal his fate. Barry returns to the Square on a seven day break from his job on the cruise ship, and pops in to surprise Colin. Colin moves out and leaves the Square to go to his brother Bill's in Bristol, leaving Guido to look after the flat.

Donna persuades Guido to let her stay in the flat. Pat asks Cindy to work full-time at the Vic. DI Ashley continues to probe the residents of the Square about Den's whereabouts.

Dot allows Donna to stay at hers, determined not to give up on her. Pete continues his self-destructive ways.

The Square come to terms with the death of a resident. Sharon and Simon spend time together at Sharon's flat.

Sharon says a bloke at work once offered her some to smoke, but she didn't want to know when she saw the effect it had on him.

Dot tells Kathy all about Donna's funeral in Bromley. A new face arrives in the Square - builder Paul Priestly from Leeds. Sharon finally opens the case Den left behind, with Wicksy there for support. However she is upset to find there is nothing of any personal significance in there. Michelle tries to patch things up with Sharon. Dot overhears Pete badmouthing Donna in the Vic and lays into him with her handbag.

Dot is hell-bent on catching the drug pusher who was supplying heroin to Donna, and after Junior identifies the culprit, she hatches a plan for Wicksy to catch her dealing smack in the Queen Vic toilets. Pat gives the new lodger a warm welcome, and Diane seems thrilled at the new addition. Kathy goes to see the Court Prosecutor.

Grant wakes up alone on his and Sharon's third wedding anniversary and takes out his anger on Michelle. Sanjay is disappointed by his new relationship with Gita, and Phil and Kathy find the going is tough.

Grant makes himself useless at the Vic while Pat juggles her responsibilities. Meanwhile Steve's New Year optimism takes a nose dive when Della gets up to her old tricks.

Pat is busy juggling work commitments and David lets her down. Della gets a shock when Steve looses his tether. Ruth gets good news leaving Michelle feeling inadequate.

An unexpected invitation throws the Jacksons into confusion, while in the Vic, Pat's courage is put to the test, and nosy Nellie learns a few home truths.

Steve takes Della out and makes a serious error of judgement. David tells Pat that the deal with Barry Evans at Manor Wood Motors is about to go through. Natalie develops an interest in car maintenance. Ruth and Mark discuss getting a place of their own.

Nellie has a visit from the council, David tries to put Pat under pressure, and Della tries to put Steve straight.

Carol calls a family conference and decides that honesty is the best policy, Della comes clean to Binnie about her relationship with Steve, Debbie gets involved with Sanjay's gambling exploits and Pauline and Arthur discuss what to do about the 'Nellie situation'.

Celebrations are in order for the Fowler clan when Michelle has some good news to share. Kathy has a bad day in the café when everyone offers her help and advice. Ricky is furious when the Jackson kids prepare for a good time and Bianca and Robbie clash.

Pat finally succumbs to the attentions of car dealer Roy Evans. (but not completely) She takes with her a chaperone, and quite right too, you can't trust a car dealer as far as you can throw him. I mean, look at her own son! Sanjay learns that when it comes to Gita, honesty is certainly the best policy. Bianca plans the party of the century, Pauline gives Arthur an earful and Steve makes Della an offer she can't refuse.

With Alan and Carol out of the way at Carol's cousin's wedding, Bianca, Ricky and Natalie get ready to party, but wish they had been more selective with their guest list. Pat is still wary of Roy, but will she heed Kathy's advice? Debbie is surprised by Gita's frankness, while things get busier at the salon much to Della's delight.

Robbie and trusty hound Well'ard face up to the morning after, with news of the Jacksons' party doing the rounds of the Albert Square gossips. Steve gets a futuristic vision involving Kathy, Pat journeys into Roy's past and Arthur has an unpleasant ailment.

At last Michelle has a job, and deservedly so, after all her hard work. She's working for the council and boy, is she excited about her first day. And to round it all off, Geoff plans a surprise for her. Pat decides to keep Roy at arms length, while Bianca shoves Ricky further out of her life when she decides to go out on the town (without him). Binnie takes up an apprenticeship.

Natalie is left out in the cold by Bianca's new friend, whilst Ricky gets taken for a ride. Arthur thinks Geoff is taking advantage and Steve is promoting the all-night café.

Bianca and Tiffany cause a stir, while Natalie and Ricky have a night to remember when they share their feelings about how Bianca's been treating them. Binnie finds it hard to cope at the salon, but is determined to prove to Della that she can do the job. Mark gets a special birthday gift, and Roy confides in Kathy about his feelings for Pat.

Natalie's walking on air, Bianca's nursing a hangover and Ricky doesn't know where to turn. Steve hopes to impress Tiffany with his glamorous new venture.

Ricky gets in deeper than ever when he tries to get his love life in order. Pauline is feeling guilty about Nellie, so Arthur decides to take drastic measures, while Robbie's new career surprises Carol.

Nellie and Ethel eschew their bus passes and head to the Vic for a girls' night out. Geoff drinks Arthur under the table, and Pauline wonders why. Roy admires Pat's famous hot-pot.

Ricky finds himself caught between two women and agrees to make a choice between them, while Nigel prepares for Valentine's Day with a bulk purchase and a cast-iron idea for making money out of love. Nellie's poorly condition alarms the Fowlers and Debbie gives Sanjay some romantic encouragement.

It may be Valentine's Day, but Carol is annoyed with Alan, Ricky spreads his love too thin and Geoff's romantic dinner gets out of hand.

Ethel's 80th birthday celebrations at the Queen Vic cause some confusion but Pauline and Arthur use the occasion to make peace with Nellie. Pauline is mixed up about Michelle and Bianca catches Ricky in the act.

Kathy and Phil are keen to spend more time with each other, but when she pays him a visit pushy Peggy is there, which is hardly likely to do wonders for anybody's love-life. Ricky is desperate to see Bianca, but when the little madam proves to be evasive, he seeks solace elsewhere. Nigel is devastated to discover that in the eyes of his daughter and her friends, he's not the man he though he was.

Ricky gives Natalie a nasty surprise, Grant advises Nigel on how to be a man and Pat gets a taste of the real Roy.

Natalie says goodbye to the Square, Arthur finds he must drive Nellie to her home, and Nigel stares violence in the face.

Kathy and Phil are making plans for their reunion on his return to Walford but Peggy's intervention doesn't help. Michelle reveals some more of her past to Geoff. Poor Ricky gets laughed at by Mark when he reveals the complexities of his love life.

A night on the town with Tiffany proves to be memorable for Bianca, although her hopes of finding someone tall, dark and handsome don't turn out quite as she expected. Geoff turns up to see a rather hurt-and-confused Michelle to try and sort things out between them. Ian is frustrated as Steve's new business venture takes off. This time he's getting all hot and bothered trying to persuade Kathy that Steve's all-night café is affecting his business at the fish and chip shop.

Bianca is shocked to find that David is her father. Michelle is surprised by Geoff's marriage proposal. He says he's going away for a few days and gives her 2 weeks to think about it.

When Michelle tells Pauline and Arthur her news she finds her parents' reactions are very different. Peggy decides to make the effort to get to know Kathy better, while Gita wrestles with her conscience over her relationship with Sanjay. As the reverberations of David's revelations shake both the Jackson and Butcher households, Bianca disappears, while her worried mother Carol finds comfort from an unexpected quarter. Arthur is upset at Michelle's news about moving to Scotland.

Michelle and Arthur don't see eye to eye over Geoff's proposal. Michelle's news has hit Arthur hard, but his strong opposition only serves to push her in the other direction with her decision. It looks like Michelle may accept Geoff's proposition. Alan has had enough of David's interest in Bianca. He tries to negotiate some peace between Carol and Bianca, but what he learns leads him to deciding to deal with David in his own way. Peggy's assistance at the Queen Vic is not appreciated by Pat.

Steve comes under financial pressure from an unexpected quarter, while Nigel and Robbie have bunny trouble.

Peggy gives Kathy a makeover, while Phil tests his catering skills. Bianca is feeling decidedly anti-social and Robbie tries to cheer her up by leaving Well'ard with her for company - but will the dog prove a deterrent to an unwelcome caller? Blossom gives Alan a piece of her mind with some strong words of advice which cause him to rethink his plans for the future, and Peggy begins her efforts at transforming Kathy into a new woman.

Ian gets some unwanted business advice from Steve, while Mark confronts his fears about Michelle. Alan tries to get Bianca to bury the hatchet with Carol. Peggy is getting in Pat's way at the Vic and the Kapoors hold a family celebration to mark Sharmilla's second birthday. Meanwhile, a mysterious late-night visitor arrives at Albert Square.

The arrival of a familiar face in the Square surprises the residents, while Carol and Bianca finally face the truth. Michelle is avoiding the issue.

Nigel tries to discuss having a baby with Debbie. Binnie tries to persuade Della to move to Ibiza. Bianca talks David into buying her a car.

Nigel becomes manager of the team. Roy leaves after Pat refuses to go on a cruise with him. Sharon gives Grant a letter from the solicitors.

"Stag night" for Mark in the Vic and Ruth in the Café. Ruth and Pauline find they have something in common, while Tiffany and Bianca find it's a man's world. Sharon is left out in the cold while the rest of the Square enjoy themselves. Mark and Arthur have an emotional talk, and Ruth makes an assurance to Pauline.

Arthur looks forward to full Scottish welcome, but whisky isn't on the menu. Ruth's delighted to become a fully-fledged Fowler, but tempers run high when Mark meets rest of her clan.

The Aitkens are left shell-shocked after the night's revelations, and Mark and Ruth try to pick up the pieces.

It is Michelle, not the bride, who has difficulties in making it to Ruth and Mark's wedding on time. Arthur, the proud father of the groom, makes his speech at the reception with Pauline proudly by his side while Ruth finds that her "big day" is an occasion for sadness as well as happiness.

Nigel has bad news for Arthur, Michelle is having difficulty living with a honeymoon couple, Grant and Sharon sort things out at the Vic, and Phil visits Ian.

Peggy causes trouble for Della, while Sharon and Michelle's night out takes a nasty turn. Ricky finds himself with housing problems, and Bianca goes up in the world.

Binnie and Della make travel plans, and Ian is made an offer he can't refuse. Roy tries to say it with flowers, and Michelle decides to go into property.

Grant and Sharon have a brief encounter, Peggy's plans for the Vic suffer a major setback and Alan's pride takes a knock.

Cindy drops the twins off at nursery on their first day. Ricky makes up with Pat, David gives Bianca a driving lesson. Sharon tells Michelle she is selling up and leaving for good.

The residents of Albert Square celebrate the 50th anniversary of VE Day on Bank Holiday. Arthur intends to make sure it is a day for everybody, young and old alike, to remember. The market traders enter into the spirit of the occasion but, for Dr Legg and Ethel, it is a time to reminisce about old friends, family and neighbours in Walford during the War years. Meanwhile, Peggy discusses her future with "her boys", Ricky feels lonely and Nigel's day does not go to plan.

The new landlord at the bedsits starts to throw his weight around, and Ricky finds he could be homeless. Ian gets Cindy just what he's always wanted, and a win for Nigel's football team means another loss for Arthur.

Lydia gets a shock when Della and Binnie write her a reference and Robbie gets a dose of reality when Carol examines his job prospects. Kathy's birthday dinner takes an unexpected turn and Peggy starts planning ahead at the pub. Debbie has second thoughts about confiding in her boss, and David finds he has a house guest when he returns from giving Bianca a driving lesson.

Della and Binnie are promised a last night to remember, but its not quite what they had in mind. Sharon decides to live it up in the Vic, Nigel realises football is a dirty game.
