Emma Waring is admitted to the hospital after a road accident, and it turns out the underlying cause is more serious, which creates a tug of loyalties for Steve, over his feelings for her and for Jasmine Hopkins; then his son sees him and Jasmine kissing.

Mike Barratt considers a transfer to a hospital in New Zealand, to get away from the frustrations of the constraints on his work at Holby. New ward sister Chrissie Williams arrives, and gets off on the wrong foot by being rude to Jasmine Hopkins. One of Stan Ashleigh's schemes accidentally causes a widespread power cut in the hospital, interrupting operations, and trapping Anton Meyer in a service lift with James Campbell, who is becoming increasingly distraught over the death of his daughter, for which he holds the hospital staff responsible, despite Meyer's assurances and the conclusions of the in-house investigation. Victoria Merrick's murderer is identified.

Anton Meyer is seriously injured in a road-rage incident and is brought to Holby for an emergency operation. Mike Barratt's replacement Ric Griffin arrives. Alex Adams plays detective when he realises that the wife of an apparent road injury victim admitted at the same time is driving around in Meyer's car.

Anton Meyer proves not to be the ideal patient and his recovery suffers a minor setback. Alex Adams and Alistair Taylor have a clash of personalities. Keri McGrath finds herself in a compromising position with Liam Evans after Sandy Harper's 20th birthday party.

Janice discovers she is now pregnant to to the latest round of IVF. Alex Adams is jealous when he finds Samantha Kenedy and Ric Griffin together. Word begins to spread about Keri McGrath and Liam Evans.

Keri McGrath's rape is investigated by a tribunal. Darwin Ward is troubled by a manic depressive heart patient. Marjica Ovcar has to bring Luka back for an emergency treatment, even though she cannot pay for the treatment she has already.

Janice Taylor endangers her unborn baby, and Tash Bandara's attempts to save a patients life are met with hostility.

Janice Taylor wants to proceed with another round of IVF treatment immediately, but Alistair is not so sure. Chrissie Williams offers him a shoulder to cry on over a drink, but it leads to somewhat more. Samantha Kennedy gets badly involved with an anorexic heart patient and her over-protective mother. Janice has to tell Danny Shaughnessy not to take too much pity on a struggling single mother, but he is also becoming increasingly involved with Marija's attempt to evade the authorities.

Danny Shaughnessy goes ahead with his wedding to Marija Ovcar, despite his mother Kath being sure it's a big mistake. Sandy Harper wangles herself the role of bridesmaid. Meanwhile, a young patient of Keri McGrath's is discovered to have had a recurrence of her cancer, while her parents argue because of their different views on religion. A woman comes into Darwin Ward with apparent appendicitis, that under surgery is found to be an infection caused by a swab left behind after a previous operation.

Owen Davis confronts Alistair Taylor about his growing relationship with Chrissie Williams, but he claims nothing is going on. A young woman is brought in suffering from advanced liver disease. A woman prisoner is also on the ward, who, when she is fully diagnosed, wants to do something that Ric Griffin is sure will give the medical ethics board a tough decision.

Tragedy strikes when Steve Waring leaves his son to look after his sick mother. On Darwin Ward, a blind man regains his sight after a relatively minor procedure on his lungs, and a cantankerous young homeless man causes problems for Simon Shaughnessy on his first day at work at Holby City, assisting Stan Ashleigh. A heart patient whose son appears not to want the burden of caring for him prompts a spat between Alex Adams & Samantha Kennedy, leading them to explore their personal experiences of caring for their fathers.

Chrissie Williams wakes up with Alistair Taylor in the Taylors' bed. Steve Waring's son is increasingly upset over his mother's death, and skips school to binge drink at home, causing Steve to have a stressful time sorting him out. On the wards, a young man is admitted with acute pancreatitis, but Tash Bandara's sympathy is more limited than the man's father's. A long-distance lorry-driver patient with a heart problem is visited by two women who each think that she is his wife. Marija has to have it pointed out to her than Danny actually fancies her.

Just before Christmas on Keller Ward, David Thomas, a young rugby player is brought in having sustained a bad leg fracture. Sandy Harper takes a fancy to him and stays late to decorate his bedside with extra tinsel. He dies during the night from complications from an unsuspected head injury. Chrissie Williams has to tell Alistair Taylor repeatedly that their affair is over. Janice Taylor finds out that she is pregnant again, but finds Chrissie's badge under the marital bed and sees husband Alistair behaving suspiciously with Chrissie. She confronts him, but he denies it sufficiently convincingly.

On New Year's Eve, Sophie, an ex-girlfriend of Alex Adams, arrives at Holby City, bringing with her a daughter he was completely unaware of. A strong-willed 77-year old, Annie Hackett, coerces Ric Griffin into doing an operation to remove part of her colon, against his advice. Simon Shaughnessy gets very drunk while still on duty, and has to be escorted off the premises by his family. Kath Shaughnessy's suspicions about Chrissie Williams and Alistair Taylor are as good as confirmed. Alex arranges to spend the evening with Samantha Kennedy, and she surreptitiously plies him with more drinks than he was wanting. He leaves temporarily to finish discussions with Sophie, but is then pressured into attending a road traffic accident. While driving back to rejoin Samantha, a child runs out in front of his car too late for him to avoid. He is then given a routine breathalyser on the spot.

Jamie, the child that Alex Adams knocked down, is starting to recover in Otter Ward when he suddenly worsens, needing an urgent operation, but dies in theatre. Blood tests confirm the positive breathalyser, and Alex is charged with drink-driving. Samantha Kennedy becomes increasingly remorseful that she was the one at fault, but still can't bring herself to confess to him or anyone. Dr Gupta's wife gives birth by Caesarian to their fourth child, and first son, in the Holby maternity unit, but almost at the cost of her life. Alistair Taylor prepares to leave his wife for Chrissie Williams, though she continues to consistently reject him. He and Owen Davis end up brawling in the car park, after Owen intervenes to stop Alistair hassling Chrissie. Janice sees them, and finally realises what has been happening.

Ric's Daughter shows up at Holby to ask for money and makes a date with Liam in the meantime, however he promptly cancells on her when he finds out whose daughter she is.

Marija has to make the desicion of going away with her first husband, Goran, or staying with Danny. Sam Kennedy confesses to Chrissie that she got Alex drunk and after seeing his mother's black eye, Danny beats up his father in the car park.

As Owen Davis discovers that his ex-wife is taking his daughter away to live in Sydney, Danny tries to persuade his mother to leave his father.

As Lisa breaks up with Mubbs, Alex prepare for his trial.

As Alex goes to court, Sam still hasn't told him that she was responsible.

Samantha Kennedy vows that she's off men for ever. A young woman with learning difficulties, Chloe Edwards, is in the maternity ward for complications with her pregnancy, and her mother is concerned. Stan Ashleigh's wife collapses in the hospital car park while delivering him to work, and she is admitted to one of the wards for tests and treatment.

Ben invites his parents to dinner with the intention of telling them that he is a homosexual.

Ric Griffin's day goes from bad to worse when Samantha accidentally bumps into his car in the car park and his daughter shows up again asking for more money. He says no and makes her get a job as Owen's new PA.

When Tash's girlfriend shows up at work for a coffee, Tash puts her hand in her bag and gets pricked by a needle. Tash fears for her life and future when she learns that her girlfriend has HIV and Tash might have contracted it. Kath gets into another arguament with Simon which leads to him abusing her worse than ever before and her being admitted to Holby and in need of an operation on her spleen.

As Danny and Father Michael try to set up a new flat for Kath, Steve trys to start a relationship with Lisa but changes his mind.

Tash Bandara finaly gets her HIV results and she is negative.

Philippa Calcutt, a woman with an advanced intestinal cancer, is visited by both a friend from church and her sister, who fears the friend is having an undue influence on her. On the children's ward is an 8-month-pregnant 15-year-old girl with an overbearing mother and a young boyfriend, Dean Flynn - Steve Waring's attempts at advice don't help smooth things for any of them. Samantha Kennedy holds a joint 30th birthday and flat-warming party, even summoning up the courage to invite Alex Adams, who declines. He in fact meets up with Jess Griffin, not knowing who she is, and awkwardly ends up at the party anyway. There, Steve gets into a brawl with an old school-friend Craig Campbell, resulting in a serious injury, and the calling of an ambulance and the police, who search Ric Griffin and find his considerable stash.

The morning after the party, Ric Griffin is released from police custody, and, after an unofficial reprimand from Anton Meyer, reconsiders his application for a lucrative administrative job at the nearby Hadlington private hospital. Janice Taylor is suffering from dizziness, which Owen Davis deduces is anemia, but also the stress of the impending divorce. Teenager Oliver Gordon is in for a check after a fall at home, when Steve Waring finds a lump in his neck. It is an anxious time for his mother, until Ric can do a biopsy. American cardiac surgeon Alan Fletcher returns, with his wife, who is in the final stages of rejecting her transplanted heart. They beg Anton Meyer to use an experimental artificial heart pump to save her life.

A case of the Norwak virus is discovered on Darwin Ward, but Ric Griffin decides to try to stay open and contain the outbreak. At the flat, Liam is disturbed by noise from next door, and going round to complain, finds an unconscious, bleeding woman in the open doorway. A man with a bat ties Liam up, but he is released when the woman comes round. In tackling the man to prevent him harming his son, Liam is badly injured in a fall.

Liam comes round from his operation, and is in pain. It is then discovered he is suffering from Peritonitis and was rished back into theatre. He then finds that he is paralysed from the waist down.

As Liam finds it hard to accept that he will never walk again, Sandy tries to comfort him.

A decision must be made whether a young woman or a boy with down syndrome will recieve a heart that has become available.

Liam returns to find his life turned upside down. A young mother learns that her unborn child is terminally ill and must decide whether to abort the pregnancy. Alex is thrown by the news that Jess is pregnant with his child.

Kath meets up with Fr Michael and makes it clear that she regrets their moment of passion. Devastated, he attempts to take his own life. Meanwhile, Alex pleads with Jess to think about the future and their bab

Jess gives Alex several opportunities to talk her out of the termination, but he accepts none of them, and Jess goes ahead with the procedure. Meanwhile, her father Ric is busy trying to organise his birthday drinks, oblivious to his daughter's predicament.

Owen has to decide whether the time is right to move back in with Laura, while he struggles to support a prisoner who could be separated from her newly born baby. An old flame of Liam's returns, and he finds himself questioning whether he has a future at Holby General.

Owen Davis is tempted by Chrissie Williams's advances, and the two are soon brought together by a woman forced to re-evaluate her relationship because of deteriorating health. Keri McGrath's past comes back to haunt her when her man-eating mother turns up. Holby City gets sexy when the eligible men are auctioned off for charity.

Mubbs puts a baby's life at risk and endangers his career. The reappearance of an old girlfriend forces Tash to re-evaluate her priorities.

Mary Harrow, a successful novelist who needs two operations, tests the loyalties of Darwin Ward's junior doctors to their senior colleagues. Sam Kennedy's subsequent need to prove her feelings for Ric Griffin to him culminates in an unusual request. Mubbs Hussain gives Keri McGrath the date she won at the auction, but when they get back home, her mother Pam arrives and Mubbs feels awkward in the light of what they had been doing earlier. Parents Kelvin & Marcia Lyme have their desire to adopt a child tested when he is diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia. Owen Davis visits Chrissie Williams at home to tell her he's getting back with his wife, but then proceeds to jeopardise it.

Registrar Diane Lloyd, an old girlfriend of Ric Griffin's, joins the team on Keller Ward, where preparations are nearing completion for Sam Kennedy's wedding to Ric. Owen Davis is getting more involved with Chrissy Williams. Alex Adams takes up the invitation to join the poorly-attended stag night, and Diane suggests moving to the casino next door, where Ric wagers the £20 000 cheque that Sam is giving him to clear his debts. A young man, Gary Sullivan, is admitted to Keller with abdominal pains, which Ric finds is advanced cancer, and is put in a moral dilemma when the patient asks him to disguise the fact that it predates his taking out a large life insurance policy in favor of his fiancée. Maternity deals with a young mother-to-be who is diagnosed with herpes, and the consequences for her relationship with the father.

Sam Kennedy & Ric Griffin's wedding day dawns, and the final preparations are in hand. But Alex Adams is in a quandary about whether to tell Sam what Ric has done with her money, and what his true feelings for her are. Ric can't summon up the courage to tell Sam, and is beginning to have doubts about the wedding. Sam realises that she wants Alex to rescue her from her situation, but nevertheless goes to the Register Office. Gary Sullivan is found to be in a much worse condition that thought, and he has to find the courage to tell his fiancée the truth, while she has something to tell him; they decide to get married on the ward.

Alistair Taylor is back at Holby on another temporary assignment, and proposes divorce to Janice who is nearing the end of her pregnancy. On the day after the events of the wedding day, Sam Kennedy confronts Alex Adams about their relationship. Keri McGrath makes a shocking discovery when she walks in on a meeting between her mother and Mubbs Hussein. A woman is brought in after collapsing in the street from a heart condition; her husband, who hasn't seen her for a year, is very keen to see her, and even more so when Alex lets slip that she has recently had a baby. A road traffic accident brings in an injured woman, Liv Woods, and her daughter, Natalie, who is pronounced brain dead; her husband is already there having brought in their other daughter who needs a kidney transplant. Janice has to persuade them to let Natalie be a transplant donor.

Owen Davis's day goes from bad to worse. Sandy Harper is less than pleased when Danny Shaughnessy asks Lisa Fox to move into their flat.

A dying child needs a risky operation in order to survive. However, Sam does not have faith in Meyer's ability to carry out the procedure as he performed it before a little girl died. She voices her concerns to the child's parents who then discharge their son from the hospital. The boy returns in a critical condition. Meanwhile, Janice is thrown into turmoil when her unborn baby is in danger. And Chrissie is forced to care for Owen's runaway child.

The child did not survive the operation and the parents hold Sam responsible as she influenced their decision. Meyer suspends Sam for breaking his trust however Sam does not feel she is to blame and resigns. Before leaving she vows to expose Meyer as she believes his methods are flawed and have caused too many deaths. Meanwhile, Janice and her baby's lives hang in the balance after a traumatic birth. Owen is shocked to discover that his daughter is admitted with severe burns due to Chrissie's babysitting.

As a result of Sam's threat, Meyer's abilities as a surgeon are under investigation by a new heart consultant Tom Campbell-Gore. Adams also begins to question Meyer's judgement.

Chrissie persuades Owen to have a house-warming party and Owen invites her to live with him. The investigation by Tom Campbell-Gore draws to a conclusion. Meyer is exonerated but the conditions are to constrictive for him. He believes that the hospital is more interested in politics rather than giving patients every chance of survival. Meyer decides to leave Holby to work in America developing artificial hearts. He invites Adams to go with him and he accepts. Now that Meyer has left of his own free will this leaves Tom Campbell-Gore able to take Meyer's old position.

Tom Campbell-Gore's first day as consultant on Darwin does not exactly go according to plan as he clashes with Ric Griffin over patient confidentiality. Lisa Fox hosts a family lunch with unexpected consequences. Meanwhile, Danny Shaughnessy and Diane Lloyd find it hard to keep their relationship professional.

The atmosphere between lovers Chrissie and Owen becomes tense, and Owen immerses himself in the case of a pregnant schizophrenic who is reluctant to take medical advice. Ric finds himself in hot water after performing drastic surgery on a budding teenage sportsman in an effort to save his life.

Tempers flare at a staff football match, and Ed Keating's past returns to haunt him. Kath accuses Danny of neglecting his studies to spend time with Diane. Terry Fox struggles to break some devastating news to Lisa.

Steve finds himself under pressure on the new AAU ward when a school trip ends in disaster. Jess gets more than she bargained for during her first day as a student nurse. Diane gets cold feet when Danny asks if he can move in.

Terry Fox continues to ask Kath for a date unil she finaly agrees and Lisa still hasn't been told the real reason why her father is a patient.

Kath's divorce is put in jeopardy when her husband storms into Holby. Primed for food fights and armed with a pink bicycle, Owen is apprehensive about Katie's tenth birthday party, and is relying on Chrissie to be there for them both.

Lisa assists with a home birth in the country, giving her an opportunity to enjoy her new car. However there are problems and Lisa has no choice but to take the woman to Holby. She is Carjacked, and has to perform the birth at the side of the road. Danny and Diane's relationship falters, and a blast from Mubbs's past turns up at the hospital - with disastrous consequences.

Tom has to lay down the law after Ed tries to ensure that a young patient gets a new heart. Danny and Diane's relationship is put to the test when they have to treat a suspicious abuse victim. Ben tries to protect a pregnant runaway with disastorus results.

Jess witnesses a car-jacking while jogging to work and she runs over to help the victim. She kicks one of the perpetrators and they run off. Jess then brings the victim to Holby where Robbie Waring also is admitted with injuries. Danny embarrasses Diane at the party which he persuades her to bring him to where Chrissie becomes the center of attention.

As Tom and Ric both compete for the post of Clinical Director, Toms drg addict brother shows up in need of a heart operation. Diane feels guilty about how she treated him at the party and she goes to his flat to aplogise, only to find him in bed with Lisa.

When Danny, Lisa and Sandy host a Bon Fire night party at their flat, it soon turns to tragedy when a drunk Sandy accidentally sets fire to the flat. Ben has to be admitted to the hospital because of smoke inhalation.

Lisa is furious when she discovers that she can't claim insurance because Sandy hasn't been paying the premium.

Terry Fox takes Kath Shaughnessy into work, his daughter Lisa Fox is less than pleased when she sees them kissing eachother goodbye. Danny Shaughnessy is very shocked and disturbed when he realises that Sandy Harper is reporting for the day shift, she had just worked all night as an agency nurse, so as she can earn the money to repay her former flatmates Lisa and Danny. Chrissie Williams shares his concerns when Sandy is making several minor errors. Tom Campbell-Gore's unofficial patient, Johnjo Kinsell, returns, he was left at A&E. His condition worsens and he is brought up for immediate surgery performed by Ric Griffin. Griffin, and Diane Lloyd are deeply puzzled that someone appears to have already operated on the patient using amateur equipment. He is in a very serious condition, and when Sandy makes another Mistake in her care of him, he has to be rushed back into theatre for another operation, in which he dies. Campbell-Gore then has to explain the death to colleagues, the police

Mubbs Hussein is in trouble after a night out on the town when he seduced a drunk lady, Gina Wilson. The next day she appears at the hospital as a patient in for a hysterectomy, but she begins to have second thoughtsa about the operation. A woman, Parmita Ashar, brings her husband into Holby after he suffers a heart attack, but it is found that she has been Hurt in a rape attack. When Mira, her daughter, arrives, the truth starts show, thanks to help from Chrissie Williams. Owen Davis lays on a big surprise for Chrissie, but she is more interested in Ed Keating.

Kath Shaughnessy and Terry Fox's plans to have a Christmas are wrecked by terrible news. When he starts suffering severe abdominal pains Kath takes him to see Ric Griffin at Holby. Ric takes him to have surgery, only to find that cancer has spread throughout Terry's Body. A teenager who is sick of her mothers drug-dabbling antics, wants to be put into care after her mother is admitted with a dangerous reaction to an ecstacy tablet, which was supplied by Tom Campbell-Gore's dodgy brother Marty.

Chrissie Williams and Kath Shaughnessy show their engagement rings to the other staff. Kath is busy trying to arrange the wedding for as soon as possible. An old flame of Tom Campbell-Gore arrives with er husband who needs a major heart operation. Dispite Tom's best efforts and two sessions of surgery he does not survive. Kath is torn because her catholic faith will not allow a second marriage and is upset because the new and very strict chaplain Father Sankar will not bless the marriage. Mubbs Hussein runs the staff chrismas raffle, the top prize of £250 is won by Sandy Harper, a bottle of whiskey is won by Tom Campbell-Gore, who is an alcoholic. Sandy realizes that her new boyfriend Sean who's intentions over his Grandmother Minnie are financial, and he is not the wonderful person she thought he was.

Tom Campbell-Gore's parents turn up at Holby, and his father is pushed into watching one of his sons operations. A pair of lungs become availible but can only go to one of two brothers, the sickest of which is given the chance, he however will not accept, and passes the opportunity to his brother. This is all due to the brother's father liking the younger and (slightly) healthier brother. The changover takes too long and the organs are taken to another hospital. In a fit of rage Tom damages the theatre and blames his problems on his father. Terry Fox and Kath Shaughnessy have to get married in hospital as Terry is too ill To go to the Registry Office. Ric Griffin also has to tell terry that he only has weeks to live.

Holby is getting ready to See in the New Year, But Tom Campbell-Gore has returned to drink. When Ed Keating cathces him drinking before an operation, he stops Tom from operating. Kath and Terry Fox go to Terry's beach house, where Terry asks Kath to end His life, she does eventually and reluctantly accept. Danny Shaughnessy and Lisa Fox are caught in a clinch and Midnight and Chrissie Williams decides to keep her baby.

At her Boyfriend Seans party, Sandy Harper is drugged and raped by Seans friend, Sean gave her the drug in a drink for part-payment to his friend. Lisa Fox and Kath Fox are starting to cope with Terry's death. Lisa doesn't cope well dealing with a couple and their Caesarian-born daughter, who has a potentaly serious condition. Tom Campbell-Gore was selected to perform some pioneering surgery on a heart patient using a new robotic system for Heart transplants. But the strain of having another of his patients die prior to the operation, and having to do the operation while being watched by a group of seinior medics, is too much to handle, and he turns to the vodka (again). Ed Keating finds Tom drunk and covers-up for Tom again, but later Ed gives Tom an ultimatum. The operation is a success and the party of medics leave happily.

Tom continues his drinking habits despite Ed's pleas. Tom is later called into theatre for an emergancy operation where he collapses from severe intestinal bleeding. When Ric discovers how bad the condition of Tom's liver is, Tom's life and career are in Ric's hands. Meanwhile, Owen desperately tries to find a best man for his wedding and ask Ed.

On the night of Chrissie's bachelorette party and Owen's Bachelor party, Sandy is left in charge of the ward and Lisa becomes more suspicious about her Fathers death and calls the police.

On the day of Owen and Chrissies wedding, Chrissie asmits her true feelings to Ed and Owens daughter is aginst the wedding. At the hospital, Kath gets worried when the police ask her questions about Terry's death and they decide that they need to exhume his body.

As the police exhume Terry's body, Lisa has doubts as to whether she made th right desicion. The police start to interview Kath and charge her with Terry's murder.

In a very Intense episode Kath Fox is standing in court on a reduced charge of Assisted Suicide of her husband Terry. Ben Saunders attends a home birth on behalf of Lisa Fox, as a hospital birth has complications. Ben's home birth takes a dangerous turn, and he has to give birth to the baby in the back of an ambulance, This allows Ben to qualify as a registered Midwife. At the Hospital There are a number of power cuts and Mubbs Hussein looses a mother in theatre due to severe bleeding. Tony Vincent spends much of the episode looking for his boyfriend (Ben Saunders) and manages to get cover at work so he can join him later for celebration Drink. However Ben meets up with Greg Townsend, the paramedic from the ambulance and they go off together for a bit. Tony arrives after this has finished so it appears Ben is off the hook.

Sean Hunt comes to Holby to get money from Sandy but when she can't givr it to him, he starts stealing it from patients in the hospital.

Alex's first day back proves to be stressful and Sandy continues to steal from the patients under the command of Sean Hunt.

It's relationship chaos for the staff at Holby this week. Owen discovers the truth about Chrissie; Mubbs and Jess's secret's out; and Tony wakes up to the reality about his relationship with Ben. In theatre, Ric and Diane try to save Tony's kidney but it's unsalvageable. He's placed on dialysis until a suitable donor is found. Meanwhile, Ben blames himself and feels helpless. To make matters worse, John turns up declaring his undying love but Ben's not interested. Ben confides in Danny about what really happened—Danny warns him if Tony decides to press charges, he could be arrested for GBH, or manslaughter if he dies. Ben realises the serious implications and takes action: moments later, he tells Diane his decision to donate his kidney and she does a blood test. Is Ben trying to save his own skin? Tony finally wakes up, and is devastated to learn the seriousness of his condition. Ben tells him he's going to donate his kidney and apologises, but Tony's bitter and confused.

Secrets and lies abound in Holby City this week. Tension mounts between Owen and Mubbs in theatre—Owen's bitter and confused about Mubbs' recent accusation and takes his frustration out on him. Mubbs further arouses his suspicions when he tries to backtrack out of the revelation and seems nervous. Throughout the course of the day, Owen becomes more paranoid when he sees Chrissie and Ed talking. Sean blackmails Sandy and she resorts to stealing from the locker room but Danny catches her in the act. She explains the situation and Danny tells her she's probably been caught on camera. He sneakily manages to hide the evidence before Chrissie gets her hands on it. Jess, meanwhile, is enjoying giving Ric a guilt trip about her cheap and pokey accommodation. Ric decides it's time to face up to his responsibilities as a parent. When an old colleague offers him the chance to go private and earn more money, he accepts, despite his principles.

Chrissie's homeless, Owen's still fuming and Ben's got some bad news for Tony. Chrissie's been off work for days, and she's alarmed when she returns to find all her worldly belongings in her office. Ed's shocked to learn she's homeless and offers a bed at his but she flatly refuses. Things are less than rosy for Sandy, too. When Sean turns up blackmailing her again, she resorts to desperate measures and steals from a deceased patient. Danny catches her in the act again and tells her enough is enough and lures Sean into a trap. When he's confronted by Danny he scampers off like a coward. Tom pays a visit to the hospital therapist as part of his AA programme. When he fails to admit he has a problem, he's brought down a peg by the therapist and is forced to face up to the reality of his alcoholism. After Lisa's given an ultimatum by Owen to leave maternity, she goes for an interview at AAU. Jess isn't too happy with the prospect of working with her!

Tom's finding his sessions with Dr Forbes extremely therapeutic—he fancies her but he's careful not to disclose too much about his turbulent past. When he plucks up the courage to ask her out, he's interrupted by a phone call. Jess, meanwhile, is determined to sort out everyone's love lives as well as her own. When she sees Diane flirting with Alex, she concocts a plan to wean her off him by fixing her up with Steve. Steve fancies Diane but it looks like both Diane and Jess fancy Alex. Alex's shakes have returned: when Diane catches him taking relaxants, he nervously dismisses he has a problem, further arousing her suspicions. Tension mounts between Alex and Ed again when Alex tells him he's needs to sort out his attitude if he's to continue working with him.

Kaths trial for the assistance of Terry's suicide begins and everyone is surprised when she is charged with murder.

Kath's trial continues with unflattering revelations about the pasts of her and her son. Chrissie gives her a good character reference and she is let off on all charges.

After the crash, Ben and Steve are trapped in a car severly injured. When the medics get to the scene, Ric realises that Steves leg is too damaged to save and they can't get to Ben because Steve is in the way. So Ric deides that Steve needs an amputation. When they get Steve out they can get to Ben but when they get Ben out, they discover that he is too badly injured to save and he dies.

While Kath starts her first day back after the trial, Lisa's Plans to go to Ben's funeral are thwarted.

Lisa's first day working in AAU proves to be difficult and Chrissie can no longer stand living with her mother.

Things get serious for Chrissie and Owen when the pregnancy runs into complications and a new midwife, Rosie Sattar starts her first day of work. Meanwhile, Danny returns from Australia.

Diane discovers that she is carrying the late Steve Waring's baby and requests for an immediate termination.

Alex refuses to take treatment for his tremor until he is persuade to by Diane who is back on her first day after her termination.

On the day of the funeral of Chrissies baby, she asks Tricia to do the planning but asks her and Owen not to come, but they do.

The New health care assisstant Nic Yorke starts on his first day and gets a lot of attention from the female nurses but the only one that really catches his eye is Sandy Harper.

Proffessor Zubin Khan joins the Holby Team.

As Chrisie attends her daughters funeral, Elizabeth Woods is admitted to Holby where the attraction between her and Zubin grows.

A new nurse Kelly Yorke starts work in Keller and Elizabeth Woods is admitted after a suppossed mugging. Her husband tries to convince her to say that Zubin raped her. When she does, Tom suspends him.

While Tom juggles Anita and Diane, Alex has to decide if he should have Charles Merricks operation. Kath gets suspicious when she notices that Elizabeth Wood's Husband won't leave her side and Zubin manages to persuade her to tell the truth.

Charles Merrick operates on Alex Adas and Diane comes along for support. Meanwhile, Sammi Sattar is in for a sperm test to see why they aren't able to conceive.

Tricia is assigned to be Owens PA but she annoys Rosie and Tom tries dating both Diane and Anita and he tries to persuade Anita to turn down the job at Columbia University.

Tom stands up Diane to do something romantic for Anita and Ric's son Leo is admitted with pneumonia and is discovered to have traces of heroin in his blood.

Alex Adams feels more deppressed about his Parkinsons when he attends his father's funeral and meets his estranged family.

Alex Adams returns to Holby and Ric is told unoficially that he is going to get the job of Clinical Director. Meanwhile Owen finalises his divorce papers with a bit of encouragement from Tricia

As Ric is appointed the new Clinical Director, Mubbs' parebts set him up on a blind date.

Tricia applies to be Ric's PA in order to put some distance between her and Owen. Ric and Zubin become increasingly nervous when it is discovered that the recent enexplained death of Sarah Palmer wasn't due to a faulty morphine pump.

The health inspectors' report is far from positive, so Helen decides to question the nurses over who is responsible for the gross negligence. Kelly brings up her displeasure with the situation during her interview and ends up blaming Kath—who then suffers the brunt of Helen's bullying tactics as she takes her turn in the hot seat. Elsewhere, Rosie attempts to play Cupid for Mubbs, but things go from bad to worse when he invites his date to a lap-dancing club.

Mubbs was out to impress Rubinda who was on a placement shadowing Rosie. He showed off during an operation and put himself at risk of an HIV infection. Meanwhile, Owen asked Tricia to go on holiday and she accepted. Ric thought Kath's resignation was a mistake and reinstated her. However, when Sarah Palmer's father threatened to go to the papers, Ric backtracked and suggested Kath take some unused holiday. Jess was frozen to the spot when a reporter announced that Sandy had won £150,000 on the lottery. Sandy left Jess, Ric and Kelly large sums of cash and generously paid off Lisa's mortgage.Just as Nic decided to tell Sandy he loved her, he heard she'd dropped everything to be with Danny. Later, the staff gathered for drinks to wish their absent friend well in her new life in Australia and toasted ""the one and only Sandy.""

In a neat cossover, the wards of Holby City are bulging with patients from the train crash featured in Casualty's epic season-opener. So, back is Jason, the bitter widowed father of a newborn baby, and we now meet his mother-in-LAW (Anita Dobson). Peter Bowles guests as an old school surgeon whose competance is called into question by Zubin. And Eva Pope playes a professional escort who, it turns out, has Zubin as a client.

Griffin struggles to cope when Keller comes under the spotlight for its recent suspicious deaths. Owen's plan to keep his relationship with Tricia secret is endangered when holiday snaps fall into the wrong hands.

It is Jess's 21st birthday, and Ric is worried he cannot afford to buy her a decent present. But when the cause of the recent Kellar deaths is discovered, Ric is left reeling. Meanwhile, Owen and Chrissie have a good time together.

As DI Jane Archer investigates the recent deaths on Keller, Ric gambles away a small fortune to try and repair his relationship with his daughter. A patient is brought in who needs a gall-bladder operation desperately which has to be done at the Hadlington but her husband hasn't told her that they can't afford it.

As the police invstigations into the suspicious deaths continues, Stan Ashleigh is admitted to Holby with heart problems. In theatre Ric Griffin and Diane Lloyd ignore his requested DNR.

Chrissie finaly finds out about the relatioship between Owen and her mother and after a fight between the two, they both get suspended. As the police investigations continue a forensic psychologist is brought in to interrogate the murder suspects.

Ric is served with a reposession notice as he gambles away more od his money and Nic Yorke is still being held at the police station for the murder of two.

As Jess and Kelly go to visit Nic at the police station, Ric tries to hide his gambling debts and the fact that his home has been repossessed.

Having lost his home, Ric Griffin has been sleeping in his office.

When the police realise that Nic couldn't have been the murderer, he is released. Meanwhile, Rosies daughter is admitted to AAU after overdosing on her mother's iron tablets.

Jess finds out that her father has been sleeping in his office and she insists that he stays with her. Ric defends Kath from the board who want to suspend her and she is arrested.

Kelly wants Nic to run away with her, she finaly tells him the truth.

Nic and Kelly's mother is admitted with severe stab wounds and Nic thinks Kelly is responsible. Kelly promises that she will hand herself in to the police but later she trie to kill her mother again. Kath interrupts her and she chases her through the hospital until they are in a room alone together and Kelly stabs Kath.

Zubin Khan finds Kath bleeding to death in a room and Nic's mother finaly confesses to him.

There's a dramatic start to the festive season in Holby following the gas explosion, which has left siblings Nic and Kelly fighting for their lives. The pair are rushed into hospital, where Jess keeps a vigil by Nic's bedside, while Kelly is rushed into theatre—and for Ric, who knows his colleague is a deranged murderess, this proves a real test of his professionalism, as he resists the temptation to just let her die. On a lighter note, Tom hosts the Holby Christmas bash, where an inebriated Tricia makes a complete spectacle of herself, while ladies' man Mubbs surprisingly opts to give the party a miss and do a spot of babysitting for Rosie instead.

As Nic's condition worsens, he asks to see his sister before she is moved to a secure hospital. When he deteriorates he must be taken to theatre but cannot be saved.

Chrissie and Mubbs wake up together after their one night stand and Ed Keating finds out that his father will be released in a few weeks.

Ric performs a very high risk operation on a cancer patient and Diane thinks that it is for money. She decides to tell Tom about it and Ric is left feeling betrayed by her. Ric later reveals to Zubin that he took on the risk for kicks.

After gambling with the life if a patient, Zubin asks Ric to see a psychyatrist. Jess considers not going to Nic Yorke's funeral.

At Nic's funeral Jess is the only person from the hospital to be there. Nic's mother and a depressed Kelly are also there. Jess visits Kelly after the funeral but it doesn't go very well. When she returns, she receives the news that Kelly hanged herself and she is dead.

After a bad day for Tricia and Kath, Tricia invites Diane and Kath to the bar to get drunk. In maternity a young pregnant woman wants to give her baby for adoption immediately despite the fathers opinion.

Tom and Ed are caught in a dilemma over a transplant, whilst Rosie fears that her relationship with Mubbs has alienated her children. A quirky but handsome new arrival brightens Kath's day.

A shock admission to Darwin finds Chrissie struggling to keep a secret from Ed, and Ric has some surprising news for Jess.

George's condition pushes Ed and Tom's professional relationship to the brink. And Rick and Diane get close over a case.

The custody battle draws near for Rosie. Ed could face Tom's wrath once more. Alarm bells ring for Diane as she talks to a young girl and her father.

Mubbs discovers where he really stands with Rosie. Ed throws out the rule book for his dad. And Diane is working with her new flame.

Keller's new nurse spells trouble for Diane and Owen finds his hands full with her best mate. Jess finds it hard to resist a patient.

Ric does not approve of his daughter's new boyfriend Robert Pullman and Kath and Chrissie compete for the job of Clinical Matron. Ric discovers a rare cancer in Jack Fenton which he thinks he must have contracted from work.

Kath has doubts about taking up her new job and decides to do something different. She has a leaving party at the bar where she tells Lisa about how her father died. Meanwhile, Rosie breaks up with Mubbs and Jess Breaks up with Robert Pullman.

Tom and Ed treat young woman with a strangely high blood pressure and heart problem and Robert Pullman is readmitted with a bicycle accident injury but Ric doesn't belive him.

When Mubbs considers leaving his job, Rosie tells him that she loves him. Tom performs an operation on a high risk patient against Zubins wishes and a woman has a miscarriage which Mubbs discovers is because of her condition.

Diane Lloyd goes to an army hospital to advise on surgical techniques during a live-fire exercise. While she is there a soldier is shot and she must save him. A pregnant woman with a weak heart is in to give birth against Owens advice.

As Ric attends his bankruptcy court hearing, Jess goes home after a stressful day and reluctantly lets Robert Pullman accompany her. Things get violent when he admits that he stole her keys and delibrately caused his girlfriends death. He gets pushed through a window which causes him severe bleeding and he is taken to Holby where Ric operates on him unaware of the situation. Meanwhile in maternity, Mubbs and Owen treat a pregnant woman with syphilis.

The new, almost arrogant registrar, Will Curtis arrives on his first day and he doesn't go un-noticed.

After he tries to get a transplant patient to the top of the list Ed is suspended. Sammi is admitted to AAU with a bleeding ulcer and Rosie goes to see him after Mubbs proposes to her. Cherise Patterson's pregnancy becomes complicated when she shows symptoms related to cancer and she goes into labour during Mubbs' investigations.

At Ed's suspension hearing, Chrissie refuses to cover for him and Tom, Ric and Zubin try to separate conjoined twins. When problems arise, Tom tries to get the permission of the parents to continue but when he fails to he continues anyway which results in him having to resign. Meanwhile, Lisa is offered the position of Ward Sister on Keller.

On the first anniversary of the death of Chrissie's baby, Mubbs tells her that Owen was the father and Lisa Fox starts her first day in charge of Keller ward with her hands full.

The new cardiothoracic consultant Connie Beauchamp arrives and is greated by the not very welcoming attitude of Will who is not very happy that he now has a female boss. And after a day of flirting with Ric, she sleeps with him in his office after which she reveals to him that she is the new Medical Director, making her his boss.

Diane's pregnant sister is brought in to Holby after being in a car crash. As she deteriorates, her and her unborn baby's life are hanging in the balance.

Rosie gets some good news but Mubbs does not seem as enthusiastic about it. Meanwhile, Diane's sister's condition worsens and her baby must be delivered by cesarean. After the baby has been delivered, Joanna dies.

Diane struggles on her first day back after her sister's death. Will's bedside manner needs improving, and Connie digs around in his past.

Ric is shocked when he sees Connie working her magic with Zubin and even more so after seeing her flirting with Mubbs. Meanwhile, Lisa tries to convince Mickie and Donna to stop being so irresponsible.

Mickie and Donna wake up in bed together after their night of passion but it is later discovered that it meant more to Mickie. Meanwhile, Zubin is upset when he finds out that Connie wants operate on a woman who happens to be the wife of an important trust member.

Diane's babysitter calls in sick and Diane is forced to take the baby in to work with her which doesn't go down well with Connie who tells her that she must choose between a child and her career. Rosie and Mubbs make up and Donna and Mickie become friends again.

Connie organizes an evening of cricket for the men in order to build their abilities to work in a team, but they abandon that plan and decide to play some drinking games instead. Meanwhile, a plastic surgeon is treating a patient on the ward and Lisa is forced to evict Donna when she fails to pay the rent.

As Zubin starts making plans for the hospital, Donna confides her problems in Chrissie who is very upset after being set up with Carlos by Tricia. Meanwhile, Diane discovers that Jack's father wants custody of his son.

Zubin and Ric give a lecture at Holby City University which is attended by Ric's son, Leo and his pregnant girlfriend who happens to be a drug addict. She goes into premature labor and the baby must be delivered by cesarean section.

Connie observes Will for the day after receiving numerous complaints from patients about his attitude. The situation is made worse when a patient makes a complaint to the board.

Will's disciplinary hearing puts his career in question but will Connie come to save him? Tricia and Carlos' relationship progresses.

Jess confides in Donna that she has a crush on an older man but Donna is soon telling everyone. Mubbs is not supportive of Mickie's dream to go to medical school and Owen asks Diane to move in with him.

At Ric's 50th birthday party, both personal and professional relationships are tested. Chrissie's attempts to stop Owen's relationship with Diane backfire and Connie proves that she will go to any lengths to prove a point.

A doctor on the wards has tested himself for an STD, Jess instantly worries its Sean as she is having sypmtons herself. when Sean tells Jess he clear Jess goes to maternity to get herself checked out but Mickie delivers some shocking news - Jess is pregnant.

Jess Griffin goes to maternity for her first scan after Mickie and Donna put some doubt into her mind about Sean being the father. down in maternity, Mickie drops a bombshell - Jess is nine weeks along. nine weeks ago Jess was in Paris with Zubin.

Crossover with Casualty; for part 1, see S19E17: Casualty@Holby City (1) Jim fights to help Rosie and the baby to safety. The drug addict leaves Bex for dead but she is rescued and manages to survive. While as the remaining victims of the explosion try to escape, Jim gives up his own life so Rosie can escape the hospital alive.

The hospital is in turmoil following the accident as Rosie has no memory of what happened.

Rosie decides to discharge herself from hospital but doesn't get far as she goes into premature labour.

As Mark prepares to leave Holby and return to London, a patient collapses requiring his assistance.

Chrissie's father mark decides to leave the hospital after he discovers that neither Tricia or Chrissie want him to stay. But later Tricia has a change of heart and decides to tell him he can stay after all, but can't speak for his daughter Chrissie.

Jess notices she's bleeding slightly and is taken to Maternity. she is later rushed in to surgery where she has a reaction to a drug. will she and the baby be ok? Jodie tells Mickie why she doesn't like Will. she later drives to him him causing a lot of scaffolding to fall on to him.

Will was left impaled on a pole and trapped underneath the scaffolding after Jodie crashed into him. Another man, Dermot was impaled by the same pole trapped under Will. Casualty's Comfort arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, Jodie ran off and eventually caught up with Mickie. She lied and said she lost consciousness and her foot slipped. Later, Mickie discovered she'd been deceived and shopped her to the cops. Jess was still recovering from her operation and was surprised when Sean asked her to marry him. Zubin told Jess he wanted to take care of her but Jess wasn't convinved. The fire-fighters moved Will and Dermot together and they were taken to Darwin. Connie fought to save Will and took him off bypass to see if he could sustain himself. Suddenly his condition detoriated and he died.

It is the day of Will's memorial service but, as Connie gives a reading, Will's wife, Susan, tells her to shut up and tell the truth. Susan claims that Connie made Will's life a misery by bullying and harassing him. Later, Holby Chief Executive, Peter, informs Connie that Susan is making an official complaint about her bullying to the board.
