The story of Shell, one of several spy networks operating in Portugal during the Second World War. Directed by the British who operated in Portugal between 1941 and 1942, it had a plan to destroy infrastructures and act as a counterintelligence unit in case the country was invaded by the Germans.

On June 26, 1941, the German army invaded Russia. Maria João photographs Lisbon full of refugees arriving in Portugal. When his father-in-law Nicolau suffers an accident, he asks Maria João to help him manage the company. Major Beevor, an English spy, meets with the National Football Coach Cândido de Oliveira to organize the Resistance activity in Portugal. At the same time that Rose is enticed by the British, Maria João is going to Porto because of an assault on the Mascarenhas branch. There, her best friend Rose introduces Maria João to Siegfried Brenner.

Larenz, a III Reich spy, keeps a close eye in the engineer. At the same time, he controls every step of Rose Lawson, the best friend of Maria João. In the PVDE dungeons, suspected of subversive activities, the casapiano Roberto Moisés - father and devout spouse -, is interrogated and tortured by officer Paulo.
