LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Michael Scott's young adult fantasy novels, "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel," will be adapted as a series of feature films.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Transformers") is producing the project.
The books detail the adventures of 15-year-old twins Sophie and Josh Newman as they travel around the world with the immortal alchemist Nicholas Flamel.
Delacrote Press, an imprint of Random House, has published three books in the projected six-part series -- "The Alchemyst," "The Magician" and "The Sorceress" -- and will publish the fourth, "The Necromancer," in May.
"Michael's fantastic series is a natural evolution from Harry Potter," said di Bonaventura, whose most recent productions were "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Imagine That."
The "Flamel" books were once set up at New Line with "Survivor" mastermind Mark Burnett producing.
Scott is a bestselling author whose novels have been published in 20 languages in 37 countries.
