Andy Nyman

Birth date: 01.01.1966

Born 1966 in Leicester. British actor who first came to note with his breakout performance as Keith Whitehead in the controversial cult movie of the Martin Amis novel - Dead Babies. He has been in demand for film roles around the world. His versatility has meant his career and roles are always remarkably diverse. He has played lead roles in Jon Avnet's Emmy award winning film Uprising (NBC) as a Polish freedom fighter and in Consey Island Baby as a gay French gun dealer. Most recently he played Gordon in the cult hit 'Severance'. He currently has four films due for release over the next 18 months - London-based romcom 'ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE, a bio-pic of 70s' Dutch rock group Herman Brood - Wild Romance and improvised gangster thriller Played where he stars opposite Val Kilmer & Gabriel Byrne. Andy has also won the best actor award at the 2006 Cherbourg Film Festival in France for his performance in SHUT UP AND SHOOT ME. The film was also awarded both the Audience Best Film and the Jury Special Prize for Best Film – the first time this has happened in the festival's history. The film is currently playing the festival circuit and will open the Galway film festival in July and play at the Edinburgh film festival in August. Andy has just completed filming one of the leads in the latest Frank Oz movie 'Death At a Funeral'. He stars opposite Matthew MacFayden, Ewan Bremmner and Keeley Hawes. This movie will be released by MGM in spring 2007. Something of a renaissance man, Andy is also a world renowned magician and the co-creator and co-writer of the hugely popular Derren Brown TV show. He and Derren wrote 'Russian Roulette', 'Séance' and 'Messiah' as well as three series of the hugely popular TRICK OF THE MIND series. He also co-wrote and directed both of Derren's stage shows, both of which have toured and played the West-End to great reviews & packed houses. For SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES they were awarded the 2005 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment.
