Okay, first of all in response to other comments. This movie was suppose to be over the top. Movies like this are not suppose to be realistic. And anyone who's seen the first one should pretty much have expected the level of realism in the second one.
On the other hand the producers of this move did a pretty good job of keeping most things within the realm of distantly possible. Yes, you had the technical geek who cracked the NSA security in no time. But the way it was done was more like: No one can do it. But I'm not just anyone. And he went off to have his fun and pit his skill against the NSA's let's not forget that this guy does work for a covert military operation, so he's a little more skilled at breaking into and out of government DBs than the average street hacker.
And now that I'm done with that rant I'll just state that there was a definite plot. And it was actually a pretty good one. Ice Cube is former military, so his ability to do certain things isn't that far-fetched,with the admitted exception of the tank scene, which I loved but is pure impossibility.
I'd definitely recommend this movie. It's total fun. How many action films do you know of which are truly probable? This one will keep you completely entertained from beginning to end.
Now for the exceptions. First, it seriously aggravated me that they killed Xander Cage off. Not on screen of course but in a very brief moment in which it was announced that Xander Cage was dead. Like he wasn't that great of an agent anyway and no big loss. How crappy is that? And the other exception was the woman they chose as Cube's love interest. Come on. Not that she wasn't a relatively attractive woman, or that she wasn't excellent in the role, but the very first scene she's in she's wearing so much makeup you could see how caked on it was, which pretty much ruined her as someone Cube would be interested in and although she looked better in subsequent scenes, her character was really nothing special. |

| I'm sure that the producer of this movie is asking him self why this film is going so bad as to the box office as in the revues. I can tell him why. Ice Cube. This actor is good and funny in comedies but is very bad in action, becoming ridiculous and pathetic. He does not get the charisma to be the star of the movie. Investing 118 million $ on him is crazy. The rhythm of this movie is perfect, perfect balance between great action and some talking. Cinematography simply beautiful. Cool story, nice costumes, great director, very good cast and very good music by Marco Beltrami (if you like hip hop. I don't know if Vin Diesel refused the sequel or the producer wanted another star but it has been a great mistake to do this movie without him. And I don't say this as Diesel's fan because, talking personally, I loved this movie if the star was DMX. |
