For an action movie, Spider-Man 2 is very thoughtful and spends a considerable amount of time examining these two ideas. Instead of racing from one action sequence to another, it takes its time to build characters and relationships. Raimi is a brilliant action director but also proves he is equally capable with the dramatic aspects of the film. Every performance is great and no single actor seems to carry the film. Spider-Man 2 may not move as quickly as the first film, but the tradeoff is well worth it.
